I don't have any Monday loot
Poor on Tuesday, Wednesday too
Thursday, I don't know about you,
But on Black Friday, I'm staying home

If I say something that sounds like I'm trying too hard, it's because I am trying really hard and there's a lot of junk on my mind's surface that my efforts are competing with that I'm not good at communicating. Please know I mean it and I promise to work in a bad joke sometime in the near future.

I don't think this counts as a spoiler, but has anyone else brought up the possibility that the magical tome in the Wicked movies was the Necronomicon in another form?

Pretty much every use of the book seems to go horribly wrong in a monkey paw sort of way, so it wasn't exactly neutral magic.
a man in a hooded jacket is talking to another man with the words " klaaru verata " on the bottom of the screen
Alt: Bruce Campbell in Evil Dead 3: Army of Darkness trying to use the Necronomicon with the words " Klaatu Verata..."

Warning: If you do this, it will remove your Promotion, Updates, and Social tabs, turning your Gmail to cr@p. Right now I'm manually unsubscribing and sorting, but I'm going to start looking around at other email providers. I shouldn't have to decide between AI invasiveness and email from 1995.
If you use GMail, AI (Gemini) was turned on yesterday by default and now scans all of your content for machine learning. To turn off, go to Settings>General and scroll down. Uncheck the box for "Smart features."

There's other "Smart" add-ons as well, but that's the one that reads your content.

Sometimes the hardest part of being a dad is trying to believe the stuff you tell them when it applies to you. Stupid setting an example.

I haven't been following the news, but apparently Lizzo is back and dating someone called Nuzzi? I hope the new single is good and they're happy together.

Making plans to see The Running Man next week/soon. I wrote a review of the original back in high school (man, I'm old), the original was fun but seeing it more for the fact that Edgar Wright directed it.

I hate that a sub-reddit like /r/frugal will talk about how to deal with higher prices caused by tariffs and monopolies, and then put an immediate ban on any discussion of politics in the thread. By all means stabilize the patient, but maybe pay attention to what's making them sick too?

Went to see Predator: Badlands, and I don't know if someone is overseeing that universe in the same way that Gunn and Feige do or if 20th Century is just getting lucky with their directors and showrunners, but they've been knocking it out of the park the last couple of years....

🧵"Cheney, more than any other person, brought us today's political reality.... [T]he American conservative project, the old dream of making the world into a place awful enough to justify American conservatism, never had a better champion.

Someday conservatives will talk about Tr#mp the way they're talking about Cheney now.
"Not glad he's dead, glad he's gone. Never liked him, didn't support him. A real RINO."
No thoughts of how they supported his actions, or what they can do to make it right. No self-reflection at all in fact.

What's with all the artists releasing fantastic wholesome music these days? It's almost like they know we're in serious pain and need something distracting and healing at the same time. Shared when the music starts but it's all fun.

A lot of people are about to be surprised (or fake it) at exactly how much the government subsidizes low wages.
When I was hired at Walmart (May 2000), there were formal training sessions in the Personnel room, followed by an "informal" session with Larry who was directed to urge anyone applying for Food Stamps etc to be sure they weren't wearing their new blue vest when they went into those offices.
Wal*Mart has a whole program to get their employees on federal aid because nobody can afford to live on their dogshit wages

Yakov Smirnoff (still alive and working!) should create a whole new stand-up on Trump's ties to the current leader of the former Soviet Republic. For example...

In Soviet Russia, glorious leader is Putin. After the No Kings rally, glorious leader Trump is Poo-ing.

My daughter and I were looking at Halloween decorations and costumes today, and we passed a section of 80s costumes that were all headbands, wristbands, and neon colors. I told her it was interesting, but I was pretty much wearing dark t-shirts and jeans in the 80s too.

Random Thought #452 - David Dastmalchian would be perfect in a recreation of Falco's Vienna Calling music video for the Tonight Show, except there isn't a good secondary role for Fallon.
(No shade on Fallon, that's just their parody format)

It's weird that The Police memory holed this version off their official YouTube channel, especially since this was the first Police music video for most older fans. Supposedly they did a video for "So Lonely" using the same set/clothes, but I haven't found that one yet.
