Apart from Cygnet’s win, most admiring comments dwelt on the glorious weed free state of the ditches.

A timely win for Cygnet at home against Glenorchy City this Saturday just passed. Being a doubleheader weekend, today we head up to face Buckingham on their home turf.

Saturday’s Pennant match saw Cygnet travel to Glenorchy City, and fine hosts they were! We were successful on two rinks, taking home 4 points, but GC were overall winners and deservedly took 10 points for themselves.

Following the Open Day trophy presentations Donna threw up the first jack, Dean Winter and the Club President let go one bowl each, the green was declared open and a 6 end random draw pairs competition ensued, followed by bbq sausages and refreshing beverages. A final mow before Open Day. President/Greenkeeper Greg Coad put in a lot of hours coaxing the best out of these machines and providing the basis for optimal growth from the turf.

Great working bees over the past few days and Cygnet Lawn Bowls Club is ready for its open day next Sunday. Free BBQ and plenty of folk on hand to help you learn the ropes if you show the slightest bit of interest!

Another tremendous day at Geeveston with a great turnout from as far afield as Dover and Cygnet for the random draw games, in this case four games of pairs.

Saturday week is the big annual garage sale at the club 15 Louisa Street, 9am start, 3pm finish. Bargains galore, from trinkets and books to appliances and furniture and everything in between.

Very difficult to convey the enthusiasm of some of last season’s barefoot bowlers. Not long now till the new season.

A grand turnout for this year’s trivia quiz, and a close finish! President Greg Coad thanked all the volunteers for making the day possible, and indeed was earlier seen helping out behind the bar.

The green is being restored, repaired and re-beautified over winter, but there is still a fair bit of activity about the place.
