Archivist, often on two wheels. Nutmegger. Colgate alum.
Can we go to the used Presidents lot this weekend and trade this one in for a different model? Heck, at this point I'd even take one with a Mission Accomplished banner.

The combination of social media, archives, and snow always reminds me of the winter we were planning the NEA-MARAC joint meeting. @k8bowers.bsky.social provided images that aptly illustrated "But it fell too deep, And it fell too long."
Heavy snowfall in this article, January 1884: “the deepest snow which has fallen here since 1818... next great snow storm was in 1856... [16 in] of snow fell.”
Anne Elizabeth Broadwell’s diary, 1883-1885.

8" of snow that ended at 5pm yesterday. A city (within a city - this state is so weird) of 3.14 sq miles. And they still haven't managed to plow my street. A plow went up the street, but there's no evidence it used the blade.

Toto, we're not in Connecticut anymore.

We are only expecting 8-12" here, so probably won't need the official cyclingarchivist.com snow stick, but we are prepared nonetheless. #snowmageddon26

Clearly this woman has not moved in the past two decades, and certainly not by herself to a city where everyone has been here for at least 20 years. I moved because I needed a paycheck, not because I want to find myself. F-. www.nytimes.com/2026/01/03/o...

My mom's Windex smelled different than usual, so I went to take a look at the bottle. Apparently if you buy it at Ocean State Job Lot, you get the Indonesian version.

"The city owned land has been nicknamed 'Tunnel Park'..."
In fact, the #archives of the Hartford City Parks contain a halftone printing block for Tunnel Park. Those blocks were used for the publication of the Parks annual reports. From here I can't tell you which year, but what this means is...

I live in a city within a city, which is a concept I don't quite understand. One consequence is that I can't vote for the big city's mayor. So when an ad appeared in my FB feed for one of the two candidates - whose half brother is actively causing harm to this country - I reported it. No regrets.

I believe this was covered once on Car Talk. Answer was 'yes,' if I recall correctly.
A reader asked: "I love browsing TikTok while I’m doing my business. Will this give me constipation or hemorrhoids?" Here’s what we know.

Amazes me that with all the info FB gathers on us, they can't figure out that someone has died and that maybe there's no need to wish them a happy birthday.

I've collected a bunch of photos for #FridayFlowers, but not getting much of a following. Today I'm going for #FridayFauna, though not intending it to be a regular feature. Bambi and her mom, as viewed on my bike ride last Saturday.
