The rise of AI is both supercharging online antisemitism and empowering the fight against it.

Misuse of Holocaust Memory Online in the Post-Gaza War Era - CyberWell
As the October 2025 Gaza-Israel war paused with a U.S.-brokered ceasefire, a disturbing trend emerged online. Gazan influencers began posting selfies, videos, and donation links with captions like “I’m a Holocaust survivor” or “Gaza Holocaust survivor.” These posts falsely accuse Israel of committing a Holocaust, which refers to a singular, unparalleled event – equating the Holocaust with the Gaza conflict.

Our latest research reveals an emerging trend in online antisemitism: Gazans referring to themselves as "Holocaust survivors."

This form of Holocaust inversion falsely equates the Holocaust with the Gaza war, appropriating the unique atrocity of the Holocaust and trivializing Jewish trauma.
