Speaking of bizarre changes, they made all level geometry in the JP release of DK64 slightly brighter. This wasn't a screen filter, but instead changing the vertex colors for all map files. (Left: All other versions, Right: JP).
This was changed back for the Lodgenet "release".

Unfortunately wasn't able to go to GDQ this year despite donk getting in. However, @2dos.dk64randomizer.com was incredibly generous and got me one of the staff shirts regardless. Great run on stage and glad that we got to kick cancer's butt.

Super Mario RPG features Jinx, a miniboss noted for his small size. The prototype version of Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga shows that he was planned to reappear in that game. Possibly to increase the comedic factor, he was made even smaller.

We should normalize documentation of good Linux workarounds for common workflows for your hobbies.
I'm now on Linux Fedora KDE instead of Windows, and it's been great so far. Trying to find the alternatives is fun, but guides & recommendations are endlessly helpful

The devs of DK64 made a mistake when creating the save file. The save data for the names associated with your DK Arcade highscore share 1 bit with your jetpac highscore.
As such, depending on the name you enter, your highscore will either look like a normal player or Steve Wiebe's cousin

So figured out what this was... another race in Crystal Caves. This time a flying course against a very vulture-sounding Squawks. Unfortunately incredibly broken so requires a lot of pushing and poking to get it working as intended.

Oh, and it also supports all 5 known versions of DK64. It *can* also work with ROM Hacks, but depending on the complexity of the hack (in terms of what assets are compressed), the mileage will vary
