Unfortunately, there aren't a lot of perfect alternatives for Discord at this point in time. Every alternative is going to be missing some features or functionality. In all honesty, if you're wanting to jump ship, expect to have to jump to more than one alternative.

Discord is already starting to walk things back a little, so people should keep doing what they're doing (cancel Nitro, leave feedback/criticism, direct contact through support tickets/phone/email/etc)

CC2 has a very good track record with emphasis on artists, artbooks and soundtracks, including with most recent games. I'm not particularly worried about that with them.

I need story progression...... I'll accept some kind of revisit to R:1 if it's just a starting point to rekindle the series but I NEED more story... I've been chewing the last chapter of .hack//bullet and Thanatos report thinking about Geist and AIKA and the literal thumb drive for too many years...
