I wrote this speaking solo double bass piece for the superstar that is Will Yager. Working on this since 2019 has been an incredibly special experience for me. You can hear it and see the score here, and I think it would be pretty cool if you did!

Been thinking a lot about how there’s such a massive difference between challenging students (cool!), making something unnecessarily difficult for them (often an honest mistake), and being actively antagonistic to them (v bad! what!) and how often people don’t recognize the difference and I’m just 😵💫

Wow! So impressed! Just spoke at a career day, and, instead of caring about music, all the 8th graders wanted to talk about was writing syllabi and curriculum development! There is hope for this generation!!! 🙌🙌🙌

A thing that has genuinely helped me write more music recently is developing a quicker willingness to work on a section of something for a long time and realize it actually sucks and I should just start that bit over from the beginning.
