I am currently reading DEAD LIES DREAMING by Charles Stross. I've always been a fan of the Laundry but the latter books get a lot more experimental and this collection of oddballs doing a heist is one of the more out there. #TheLaundry #cthulhu #lovecraft #fantasy #urbanfantasy @cstross.bsky.social

I went with the view I have of Ms. Cheney and Ms. Kelly:

"Yes, I am happy they hate Trump. I also recognize they hate all of my friends and their reasons for hating Trump are not because they suddenly disagree with him about policy."

It is a huge shame.

I loved the books and the games each. I often wonder which direction the film would have gone, and if it would have been an original script or based on book 1.

I played the #Metro games this weekend for the first time and finding out the series is on hiatus because Russia declared the book writer to be an enemy of the state for his opposition to the Ukraine War was not on my bingo card. I can understand why his movie deal got cancelled too. #videogames

My favorite moment of #Andor is early on when Cassian is picked up on his vacation and sentenced to four years for loitering nearby a protest. This despite his actual crimes and rebellion. It's the clearest showing that the Empire is evil from the bottom up not top down. #StarWars

I have the sneaking suspicion that a large chunk of the animosity directed at #Avatar is that quite a few of its anti fans really do understand the subtext of "invading people for stuff is bad." Whatever you think of the merits of the movie, these passionate detractors are offended by this take.

In A CANTICLE FOR LEBOWITZ after the nuclear war happened, the majority of humanity's survivors went on a massacre of everyone who was a scientist and scholar until they started on everyone who could read. They took "simpleton" as a badge of honor and that was written in the 1950s.
An essential development over the past decade-plus is that the ignorant went from feeling chastened when their ignorance was revealed to banding together and deciding that, actually, they were right. They might disagree at times, but they agreed that ignorance itself was an indicator of trust.

I think Vecna is the worst villain of #StrangerThings. It's notable because he's based on Freddy Krueger and D&D Vecna but somehow is worse than both as well as the mindless Demogorgon monster from season one. Worse than the racist brother of season two.

I both love and hate GOD EMPEROR OF DUNE. Why? I love its deep philosophy, intrigue, and the fact it's all about Jabba's Palace turned up a million times over. I hate it because it takes the condemnation of Paul's murder of billions then makes it justified via prescience. #Dune #books #scifi

I've read Cthulhu Grimoire and I have to give props to the book for its politics (and the irony of it using Lovecraft). River is a fantastic protagonist and is neither the tragic gay or bury your gays character.

If you've read Cthulhu: Grimoire, please leave a review on Amazon and Goodreads. This book having diverse characters and speaking frankly about police brutality and racism (let alone having a trans POV character) is going to color a lot of folks' reaction to the book.

FOUR of the seven first books have been finished!

Incredibly positive reception from ALL.

The men are discussing the books amongst themselves AND me. Each finished book was enjoyed!

One of the men, learned what an ARC reviewer is.. and wrote a first draft. 🎉😁📚

I know sometimes they are legit, but a thing that bugs me more than a lot of other things is a pretentious pile of books clearly curated to make the poster seem like some quirky intellectual who reads only classics. There are so many good things being created now.

#Fallout theory: I wonder if The Fall of Shady Sands in 1277 is meant to be them relocating their capital to the Boneyard rather than the nuke going off given they're two separate events. I mean, this is all probably just production errors but it'd be a neat little fix. #FalloutTV
