26, Synthetic Organic Chemistry PhD student in Cardiff Uni.
Founder and host of 'Go With The Flow' conference.
I spend time writing things that will never be published and planning DnD games that will never be played.
Here's to another success Go With The Flow conference!

Thank you to all those who attended, we hope you gained something useful from the event.

It was excellent to see such a variety of approaches to flow chemistry.

We hope to see you all again next year!

Always interesting to see what fundamentals have not been fully challenged in recent years. I definitely recommend checking out this work from @markelliottcardiff.bsky.social. This one's going to be a hard habit to break!
First post on here for #chemsky you’ve always been told that alkyl groups are inductively electron donating. I’m afraid that’s not actually true! There’s a fair bit of evidence that they are electron withdrawing and we’ve just added to that!

Alkyl groups in organic molecules are NOT inductively electron-releasing
It is commonly stated that alkyl groups exert an inductive electron-releasing effect when compared to hydrogen. This information has been given in numerous organic chemistry textbooks over the last 75...
