I'm a cathedral nerd. Here are some things that you might not notice about it – just from that one photo.
THREAD.

1. You can see straight down the nave to the apse. No medieval English cathedral has that.

This series from Lehigh Valley Live is an excellent deep dive into the fractious debate over the change in deer season opening date.

Fwiw, I’m with the traditionalists. Move it back to Monday.

Was a fun game until this happened
Tensions boiled over after Michigan’s 13-10 win at Ohio State.

A flag plant at midfield sparked a brawl, with players shoving, police intervening and some players appearing to be pepper-sprayed.

As usual, The Economist is reductionist here.

Higher education has at least five purposes: 1) the acquisition of skills, 2) credentialization for jobs, 3) networking, 4) socialization into a certain socio-economic milieu, and 5) personal cultivation and broadening www.economist.com/leaders/2024...

It's *that* holiday icebreaker: "What are you thankful for?" Awkward in the best of times, downright miserable when things are bad.

But in a moment of deep uncertainty, gratitude is all the more important.

The tour guide at the Amish Village told us that a History of Martyrs (Martyrer Spiegel) was the Bible.

I gently corrected her afterwards.

Is it too much to ask that Amish tour guides read German in the Gothic script?
