In case you’re wondering why we’re not seeing the warranted criticism of Chuck Schumer’s failed leadership from party leaders: he begged them not to and most of them appear to have caved to him just like he has himself caved so many times. Establishment Democrats are cowards, plain and simple.
Schumer reached out to leading presidential contenders to try and mute criticism of the deal, calling Josh Shapiro, Andy Beshear, JB Pritzker, and Gavin Newsom.

While Schumer voted against it, the eight Dems behind the shutdown deal said the minority leader was aware of their plan. trib.al/lcNlGik
Schumer Begged 2028 Dem Contenders Not to Criticize Shutdown Deal
The Senate minority leader was well aware the shutdown deal would face backlash across the Democratic Party.

The people out there claiming the Dem surrender is a "good thing." And "we'll get another chance come February 1" are missing the fact that Democrats have now shown Republicans they will cave again and again and again. Republicans have no incentive to pass ACA subsidies. It will be even harder now.
November 13, 2025 at 3:11 PM
Democratic voters are demanding accountability for what has been ONGOING failed leadership in the Senate. Chuck Schumer and Dick Durbin have let us down REPEATEDLY. This is not just about their latest failure. They don't seem to realize that MANY voters aren't going to forgive them this time...
November 13, 2025 at 7:22 AM
Why? Because they are cowards or on board with his out-of-touch, weak approach. Or both.
Why Aren’t Any Senate Democrats Calling On Schumer to Step Down? | Common Dreams
Senate Democrats face backlash over shutdown cave, calls for Schumer to step down. Progressive senators silent on leadership change.

There’s no way to spin the @democrats.senate.gov surrender that isn’t a failure in leadership. Either Chuck “knew Republicans would never extend the ACA subsidies” and knowingly harmed Americans for nothing while lying to them OR he gave up just when they held the best possible hand. He’s got to go.
November 12, 2025 at 4:13 AM
Aaand...there it is. Senate Republicans will only approve an extension of the ACA subsidies if subsidized plans prohibit access to reproductive health care. (And I expect the extremists in the House will demand even more.) Democrats gave up their only leverage, and we'll be worse off for it.
November 11, 2025 at 11:43 PM
Any @democrats.org official making statements today about how they “honor veterans” without calling out the fact that the Senate Democratic surrender will kick over 250,000 veterans off their health insurance and demanding Schumer and Durbin resign is just once again gaslighting us. Words < Actions.
November 11, 2025 at 7:31 PM
I’m guessing @democrats.senate.gov think our anger at their utter failure and betrayal will subside in a news cycle or two and calls for new leadership and primary opponents will die off. They continue to underestimate voters just like they think we’re stupid enough to believe this was 8 “rogues.”
November 11, 2025 at 5:42 PM
Every day that @schumer.senate.gov and @durbin.senate.gov stay in leadership is another day that @democrats.senate.gov @democrats.org show they are out of touch, disrespect their voters, and do not represent the American people. Sitting elected officials will feel the consequences at the ballot box.
November 11, 2025 at 3:28 PM
Trump is gloating that @democrats.senate.gov @democrats.org are weak and he got the better of them. The sky just might be falling because for once I 100% agree with Donald J. Trump. This is embarrassing and infuriating all around.
November 11, 2025 at 5:37 AM
The only way @democrats.org stand even a slim chance of restoring voters confidence for 2026 (the numbers of people I’m seeing pledge not to give to any Dem organization and to only campaign for primary challengers—including me—is staggering) is to ensure Schumer and Durbin are out within the week.

After yesterday’s surrender, we’re launching the largest Democratic primary program that we’ve ever run.

We will not back any Senate primary candidate unless they call for Schumer to step down as Minority Leader.

If you’re as pissed as we are, join this campaign to rebuild the Democratic Party. 👇
Democratic leaders have failed us again. It's time to get new leaders.
After yet another capitulation by Chuck Schumer and Senate Democrats, it's clear we need new leadership capable of mounting a serious opposition to Trump's authoritarian regime. We're launching our la...

So @baldwin.senate.gov showed us what will happen during the magical “promised” vote on extending ACA subsidies now that @democrats.senate.gov gave up all leverage. Her motion to take up an amendment to extend by one year was shot down by the MAGA Republicans 47-53. Any sane person saw this coming.
November 11, 2025 at 12:23 AM
Word is out that @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social and @susielee.house.gov are telling House Dems to “go easy” on the Senate Democrats that just sold out the American people. Are you kidding me? We should just let them get a free pass when they just undermined 40 days of standing tall? Give me a break!
November 10, 2025 at 11:51 PM
Have @schumer.senate.gov and @durbin.senate.gov lost their leadership positions yet? Because if not, we know that all @democrats.senate.gov were complicit in this surrender and betrayal. And they will be held accountable at the ballot box.
November 10, 2025 at 9:37 PM
100%. If you are a coward who supported this behind closed doors and negotiated cover for yourself on the floor -OR- you’re willing to cover for said cowards, you have no business serving as a Democratic Senator. Tell us where you stand or face the wrath of voters by default. Silence = complicity.
Since the Democrats worked extra hard to hide who actually supported this, I think the No Kings/Resistance position should be to primary every Democrat unless they publicly call for Schumer's ouster this week

Either they go into total rebellion mode, which they won't, or the people will

80% of American voters want to see the ACA subsidies extended. Not 80% of registered Democrats. 80% of ALL Americans. And @democrats.senate.gov said “we’re scared of the consequences of a longer shutdown”. Translation: they chose corporate donors over the people, making them just Republicans in Blue
November 10, 2025 at 9:00 AM
I wonder how long it will take for @democrats.org to realize they lost a TON of registered voters tonight. After the absolute betrayal of the American people, lack of principles, and show of cowardice in the Senate, I’d be embarrassed to say I’m a registered Democrat any time soon…Independent it is.
November 10, 2025 at 8:20 AM
Any elected Democratic official not calling for Senate Democrats to immediately replace Chuck Schumer as Minority Leader is 100% out of touch with Democratic voters, 100% out of touch with the American people, a coward, and unfit to serve. We’re watching right now. Primaries are coming up soon.
November 10, 2025 at 8:05 AM
So just want to let my senators @murray.senate.gov and @cantwell.senate.gov know that if we don’t have new leadership in the Senate within the week, I’ll take it as a sign that they’re all on board with the betrayal of the American people that Senate Democrats committed tonight. And I won’t forget.
November 10, 2025 at 4:16 AM
This 👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼 Stop playing games and show the people you care @democrats.org Unless…the truth is that it’s all performative and the party actually doesn’t care about standing up for the people.
Expel the yes votes from the party and cut off all their access to fundraising, then remove Schumer from leadership. Anything less is mealy-mouthed coward bullshit.
As this vote moves to the House, I stand with Democratic leadership as they refuse to rubber stamp the full-scale Republican assault on Americans’ health care and I am proud of the majority of Senate Democrats who opposed this vote.
November 10, 2025 at 3:56 AM
80% of Americans want the ACA subsidy extended. That didn’t matter to Senate Democrats. This probably won’t either. Time and again, they just prove how out of touch they are…
80% of Democratic voters want a new leader in the Senate.

Does that matter at all to Democratic senators?
November 10, 2025 at 3:37 AM
Not @shaheen.senate.gov up there trying the whole “The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears.” approach. Because she literally just voted *not* to do that while giving up the *only* leverage Democrats have. We’re not stupid, Jeanne, and we won’t forget.
Shaheen: So let me be clear. No one in the senate chamber wants to extend the ACA tax credits more than I do.
November 10, 2025 at 2:44 AM
If @democrats.org want to know why the party’s approval rating is so low and why so many people are switching their affiliation to independent: look no further than @democrats.senate.gov who once again betrayed the people, broke a promise, and cowered…to get…nothing in return. Feckless liars.
