Practice Isn’t One-Size-Fits-All

Teaching, leadership, research, or policy work may count toward the Currency Condition, not just bedside care.

Did you know? Practicing without proper registration can put patients and your team at risk.

Always check the CRTO Public Register and any practice limits before you work. Keep your patients, team and yourself safe.

Did you know? RRTs can only act on a medical directive if they’re specifically named. If not a direct order is needed.

And here’s a common misconception:
Other professions can’t “pass on” that authority unless RRTs are listed in the directive.

Every RT knows, your skills are your superpower! But staying confident and current takes more than hours on the job. It takes continuous growth, curiosity and care.

That’s where the new Currency Condition comes in. It’s designed to support you in keeping your edge and advancing your career.

Employers are key partners in supporting safe, quality care.

Hiring someone without checking their registration, or overlooking TCLs, can put patients at risk and create liability for your organization.

Remember to check the CRTO Public Register before hiring. members.crto.on.ca/crto/CRTO/Pu...

Today we pause to remember those who served and sacrificed for our freedom.

Remembrance is more than reflection, it’s carrying forward the values of service, courage and care. Respiratory Therapists live these values every day through their dedication to others.

Lest we forget.

Staff returning from parental or other leave? Don’t assume they’re still active RTs. Some may be Inactive & can’t practise until reinstated. Others may hold TCLs that affect their scope.

Employers always check the CRTO Public Register before scheduling. Verify: members.crto.on.ca/CRTO/iMIS/Co...

While costumes may come out today, the real superheroes are RTs. Instead of masks, they wear compassion. Instead of capes, they bring expertise. Everyday, they show up for patients and families when it matters most.
Thank you, RTs, for the difference you make on Halloween and every day of the year!

Completing an RT program doesn’t automatically mean someone is registered to practise. New grads must apply & meet all CRTO requirements first. Employers should always verify registration & check for TCLs before allowing clinical orientation or patient care. Check members.crto.on.ca/CRTO/iMIS/Co...
