Nice post-work owling session with Harry Boorman on Monday! Can never complain when seeing Owls on the Plain🦉

1 Little Owl, 2 Barn Owl and 3 Tawny Owl made a productive evening and a satisfying count. See here for Harry’s nice video on it too: youtu.be/TpZSTKI8Uns?... #owl #wiltshire #bird

Weekend of WOS events:

Sat AM was a WOS Youth ringing demo. Seeing Firecrest and Bullfinch in the hand was brilliant, as was seeing youngsters enthused. Thanks @jonny_goes_wild!

Today was a damp but productive Woodford Valley walk, best being Merlin - ebird.org/checklist/S2... #wiltshire #birds

Nothing from stateside this weekend, but please with a Hobby dashing through as a second patch record! Of course no photos so enjoy the regulars. Who needs funky warblers anyway..?

Small uptick in Snipe (9) & Teal (29) + an increase in wildfowl numbers at Langford Lakes too

3 sites hit on a trip back from the south coast today. Initially, very little moving around Worth Matravers bar some auks and Siskins.

Then onto Lytchett Fields- Curlew Sand, Little Stint, 2 Grey Plover, Marsh Harrier + a new site to me! @dorsetbirdclub.bsky.social @harbourbirds.bsky.social

A weekend of abundance over variety for me.

C.200 Meadow Pipit and c.100 Chiffchaff on a slow cycle around Salisbury Plain this morning. 3 Wheatear and 2 Whinchat were also inevitable at this time of year. Great to see mass Swallow and Martin migration yesterday and today too

A long anticipated return to BlueSky I’m sure… but I have been birding!

More so recently with an overnighter to Portland last week with Ruff and Little Owl and some really nice migrants, WOS Youth trips (Marsh Harrier) and autumn on my patch with the Wheatear!
Let’s see what else autumn brings🍂
