I had a big brain moment and realized that, after he's turned into a genie, Jafar has the same cosmic knowledge as Genie, which means it wouldn't be entirely out of the realm of possibility for Jafar to make pop culture and/or other modern references.

ALSO. Mozenrath straps both himself and Aladdin down to tables to do the soul transfer, but... if he had been successful, both he and Aladdin would have STILL been strapped down to those tables, just in each other's bodies.
