🧵 How do you solve a problem like a creative midfielder injury crisis before a European final? To ad lib a Mario Balotelli T-shirt, “why always us?” No Madders. No Deki. Bergvall unlikely. It’s a shit situation. No solution is ideal. But we need to find one. We can’t feel sorry for ourselves.

Congratulations to Brentford. They’re the only team we’ve beaten in the PL who have restricted us to just a two goal win this season. And they’ve now done it twice so hats off to them. 👏 #THFC #COYS

Cheers Mathys Tel. Hope you’re happy. What a sad little life. #THFC #COYS

Wage bills for 2023/24 season (£m):

MC - 478
LIV - 450
MU - 432
CHE - 393
ARS - 380
AV - 298
TOT - 258
NEW - 253

Since then we’ve sold Hojbjerg, Royal, Perisic, Dier, Lo Celso and Ndombele and only added one big earner in Solanke.

Is there any wonder we’re not competing?

🧵 I’m furious. Absolutely furious. Not with Ange, despite his shortcomings. Conte didn’t express it in the right way but a lot of what he said was true. I’m sure the shareholders think Daniel Levy is doing a great job. The club is worth several multiples of what it was worth when ENIC took over.

We’re lucky we’re playing Everton today. If this was a really decent team it would have been 6 or 7. I just don’t think he can survive this, nor do I think he should. But if we really want meaningful change then the fanbase need to mobilise and take action against the ownership. Enough is enough.

🧵 There’s always going to be an emotional reaction after the derby but has anything really changed tonight? We lost at the Emirates which is what we pretty much always do, sadly. Tonight with a massively patched up defence. Everyone expected us to lose beforehand and we did, by a single goal.

- Only 4 of the starting lineup tonight started the reverse fixture earlier this season.
- 5 of the starting lineup tonight will be having their first ever taste of the NLD, including two 18 year olds and a keeper making his first ever PL appearance.
Lack of experience or lack of baggage?

Ian Wright just said that Arsenal were down to bare bones. 😳😳😳 Is he taking the piss? By my reckoning they had 9 of their 1st XI starting and #10 Calafiori was on the bench. So just Bukayo Saka missing. “Bare bones”. 😂

Multicultural Britain. Happy holidays whatever you’re celebrating. Unless you’re a gooner. In which case you can do one. #COYS #THFC 🎄🕎

We won our most important match this week, which was the QF. Players expended all their energy on Thurs night. Yesterday was always going to be incredibly hard with a depleted squad. We need some realism in what the 12/13 players available are physically capable of. It’s not an existential crisis.

Today really was a free hit given our current injury situation and turnaround time from the MU game. You just can’t ignore that the exact same XI played less than 72 hours prior in an energy sapping quarter final whereas Liverpool made 8 changes from the team they fielded on Weds.

I really like Ange but it’s becoming increasingly difficult to back him. Another awful performance. This Rangers team are somewhere between a Championship and a League One side, on a fraction of our wages, and they outplayed and outfought us for most of that match. Unacceptably poor. Again.

Why bring Bentancur off when he’s ineligible for our next three or four games? You can’t complain about players being overworked and fatigued when you don’t make full use of the ones who aren’t.

I want to believe the magic is real but are we all deluding ourselves into thinking that, if we’re really patient, he’s going to deliver? If we just believe, will it be glorious and will he actually bring us the shiny presents we’re desperate for or is it all just a load of bollocks? #THFC #COYS

I see a lot of talk about “some fans” wanting Ange out but I don’t see anyone on my timeline calling for that. Big part of the problem is that we get no clear communication & honesty from Levy/Munn/Lange explaining what the objectives are for this season. We’ve brought in a load of teenagers (1/11)

This amount of injuries for the second season running just can’t be a coincidence. It’s a pattern and I would speculate that high intensity training sessions probably aren’t helping. Something needs to change.

League table is mad. Compare Spurs and MU. We’ve conceded the same number of goals but scored more than double their total. GD is +14 better. We’re capable of annihilating the champions 4-0 on their own turf. MU are in disarray, embarking on a complete rebuild. Yet we’re only 3pts ahead of them! 🤯

Still absolutely buzzing. This is why we do it. We spend two weeks in the doldrums, seething after losing at home to winless Ipswich because we know that if you invest your entire emotional well-being in this stupid football club, you might get a day like yesterday and the euphoria it brings. #COYS

If we lose now, I’m blaming you @jamestmaw.bsky.social for saying worst case scenario is a 3-2 defeat on the VFTL pod.

Not Levy’s biggest fan, but fair play. Was only just saying to the lads in the pub after the Ipswich game, “why doesn’t the club logo allow for a more playful expression of the brand?”, and he’s actually gone out and fixed it. 👏👏👏

Last year I woke up on Xmas morning in an unhappy relationship with an abusive Italian who didn’t want to be with me. A year on, I’m in a better place with a big cuddly Australian who gives me a fuzzy feeling inside. If you’re in a dark place this Xmas, don’t lose hope. Better days will come #COYS

That first 15 minutes. When Sonny put us 2 up. Thinking that we look like a proper team. Hold on to that. This might be slightly more than a bump in the road - it feels like a crater rather than a pothole. But we’re still the same team we were in that first 15 minutes. It’ll come round again. #COYS
