Going to repeat my talking point here because let it be known: ACIP does not and cannot require people to be vaccinated. It is a red herring to insert individual choice. The "AC" stands for advisory committee. They are meant to give advice on how best to use vaccines to prevent illness.
I’ll be on PBS Newshour tonight discussing measles. We’ll likely lose our elimination status, and I expect more big outbreaks in 2026. The MMR vaccine is safe, effective and, you might be surprised to learn, very popular.

The multi-year NIH funding of grants tagged to 2025 allows Russell Vought to reduce the number of grants funded this year because he insists that a 5 years of $$$ has to be committed. This is bad. We could see a cut in actual grants by 1/3 or more. Spread the word. www.statnews.com/2026/01/16/n...

A clause limiting the use of multiyear NIH grant funding has become a sticking point as the Senate appropriations panel finalizes the HHS spending bill.

RFK Jr's HHS had a press call to announce they were — based on no new data — overhauling the childhood vaccine schedule. Senior officials at HHS answered questions but refused to go on the record, saying we could only attribute the quotes to "officials." www.washingtonpost.com/health/2026/...
U.S. overhauls childhood vaccine schedule, recommends fewer shots
The U.S. no longer broadly recommends vaccines for flu, hepatitis A and B, and RSV. Health officials say the guidance aligns with that of peer countries.

This is the best piece I’ve read so far on why the Guinea-Bissau RCT, in which a proven life-saving vaccine will be deliberately WITHHELD, is unethical

“When benefit is established, withholding an intervention is no longer neutral experimentation it becomes premeditated harm”
The planned hepatitis B birth-dose trial in Guinea-Bissau raises serious ethical concerns. Withholding a proven, life-saving vaccine from newborns to answer speculative questions is an absence of equipoise with real downstream harms for trust in vaccines.

The media needs to stop writing headlines like “The CDC changes course on vaccines and autism” and “The CDC defends measles response”.

NONE of this is coming from legitimate scientists at the CDC.

ALL of it is coming from RFK Jr.

Every such headline is causing further harm to public health.

The BLS continues to produce high quality employment estimates. I understand where this comes from, but part of how Trump undermines institutions is by generating mistrust of legitimate institutions.
The only reliable data we are going to get on this stuff now comes from the private sector. bsky.app/profile/atru...
🚨 CNBC on latest jobs numbers: "A big miss on ADP payrolls. The private payroll company saying private payrolls shed 32,000 workers in Nov. That's the 4th negative number in past 6 months. The estimate was for +40,000, so the street was off ... this may be coming from being hammered by the tariffs"

One of my absolute favorite expert virologists (who is also one of the editors of the journal Vaccine) tells it like it is

“Prasad can heap suffering on CBER staff all he likes, but it always must be in the service of Kennedy’s MAHA agenda. What Kennedy asks, Prasad will deliver.”
This REALLY annoyed me yesterday. Mostly because I know what the intended impact is on vaccination (stripping access), but also because it is not evidence-based. Prasad & Høeg provided no data to support their position besides "it's VAERS."
bsky.app/profile/angi...
Vinay Prasad sent Tracey Høeg dumpster diving in VAERS for pretext to block access to flu vaccines, alter safety standards, end combo vaccines, & hold clinical trials to impossible standards.

CBER is supposed to regulate vaccines, not withhold them. FDA is as broken as CDC.
