I am a programmer, political junkie, and wolf aficionado.

Pissed off left-leaning independent. Pissed off and independent because Republicans are stupid and Democrats are spineless.

We all want to know what to do, but none of us is willing to accept the answer to "What is left that we can do?". So...

Following is what to do to prepare for this LITERALLY becoming the 4th Reich. This is dark to contemplate, but it's historically accurate resistance tactics for the worst case.
Here's some nonsense for you. The POTUS can flip you the bird, but they can't put the gesture on a billboard. They got around that by using a bird silhouette. This is up in Birmingham Alabama, by the way.

"You may well ask: "Why direct action? Why sit ins, marches and so forth? Isn't negotiation a better path?" You are quite right in calling for negotiation. Indeed, this is the very purpose of direct action.

One problem we have is that there are entirely too many people who still believe that there are still good Republicans in office who will impeach if needed.

After all that has happened.

They believe they are going to magically snap out of it.

It's lunacy - and dangerous wishful thinking.

We thought legal mattered.

We thought truth mattered.

We thought moral mattered.

We thought justice was coming.

We thought the will of the people mattered.

We thought the Constitution mattered.

We thought alliances mattered.

We thought history mattered.

We thought more would stand up.

A crude but effective pattern:

What people don’t understand, they fear.
What they fear, they want removed.

Propaganda doesn’t need truth – it needs friction. Confusion does the heavy lifting.

"Already long ago, from when we sold our vote to no man, the People have abdicated our duties; for the People who once handed out military command, high civil office, legions - everything now restrains itself and anxiously hopes for just two things: bread and circuses."

Welcome to the circus.

We are witnessing one of the largest psyops in the history of the planet. The goal is to make someone - anyone - so angry they lash out so violently that the insurrection act can be enacted. If no one does, they will likely just lie and say it did happen.

Time to read up on martial law. Expect it.

Fall of Rome:

1. Institutional fatigue - trust in government institutions falls.
2. Elite fragmentation - state becomes prize to capture, not commons to maintain.
3. Economic strain with visible unfairness - wealth concentrated among landowners
4. Information chaos - competing claims of legitimacy

Avoid the green gas at protests if it is deployed. Nasty stuff.
January 15, 2026 at 4:58 AM
It would be a shame if the protesters began making their signs out of quarter-inch-thick plywood to stop rubber bullets, forming a tight shield wall to prevent police from singling out and mobbing individual protesters.

What were those two things again in our pledge of allegiance?

Something and Something for all?

I forget.

Feels like it might have been important. Feels like everyone must have forgotten them.

What's the general consensus on the validity of this?

I'm shocked!

OK, not that shocked.
Despite what you might think - or, maybe, right in line with your expectations - many Senate Democrats aren’t eager to wage a fight over the department’s budget as part of this month’s funding fight.

NEW: Top DOJ officials quit after their division refused to probe Minnesota ICE shooting - At least four leaders of the Civil Rights Division resigned because the section's head, Harmeet Dhillon, decided not to investigate shooting of Renee Good.

I think a lot of people just don't understand - THIS is what half of the country sees about ICE in Minnesota. Renee Good is already out of discussion in the comments. This is a Sinclair station, so this is running all over the country except in the big cities.

So - how long does a local or state arrest warrant for murder usually take?

Asking for a friend.

I expect inaction from the feds, but not cowardice from others.
January 12, 2026 at 11:30 PM
Nothing will make someone try something crazy like their knowing that if they don't, it marks their end. Desperation is powerful motivation.

This is true of life under authoritarianism, but also true of elections where authoritarians expect they will lose badly.

Heads on swivel mode. Stay safe.

January 12, 2026 at 7:21 PM
This.

I'm not sure how many times I have seen something along the lines of "the military will save us!"

Yeah... about that...
We may have seen more willingness to not comply with illegal orders by the military had they not been totally indoctrinated by FOX bs for decades now.
January 12, 2026 at 7:08 PM
The next piece of understanding we need to make sure everyone has is that the collapse of any semblance of world order is NOT because there is no plan.

THAT. IS. THE. PLAN.

In a collapsed system, those with the biggest/most guns rule. They believe they have that. They plan to rule, not lead.
January 12, 2026 at 5:23 PM
Is everyone FINALLY coming to the understanding that there's no path to consequences within the system that they haven't seized? They control whether they are punished for this. They took over the punishment mechanisms FIRST. There is no government mechanism for accountability. The vote is next.

"That would be horrible for the United States."

How many times do we have to tell you that is a feature for Trump, not a bug?

He's a traitor. A LITERAL traitor to the United States of America.

NOT HYPERBOLE.
