Another volunteer! It’s common for tomatoes to pop up where I’ve grown tomatoes in the past. (There’s one in the bean patch that I recognize as Midnight Snack, a hugely prolific cherry tomato variety that ripens almost black). But I have no idea what this little guy is.You go, bold tomato!

I love spring - planning and planting things and watching them grow is a continual delight. But there’s nothing quite so lovely as “volunteers” - things that planted themselves. The line between a volunteer and a weed is very fine, but I’m so happy to look at these shapes and colours today.

If you’ve been on the planet long enough, you remember when this excellent little convenience could be found in every apartment you’d rent. So much paint on this thing that you probably couldn’t remove it without taking off a chunk of the door frame … but I bet it still works.
