My first Star Ocean game, I remember being absolutely fascinated with the "4D" aspect of the narrative. I also remember the insane difficulty spike near the end of Disc One lol

As far as lore goes both games are pretty great. Mechanically and pacing wise 2 is vastly superior, and the characters all have more life to them. Overall I can't see myself ever replaying 1, but I've done two or three runs of 2 across different platforms.

The Yakuza show was fine as a standalone series, something you could easily enjoy if you had no prior experience with the franchise. As an adaptation of the games, it falls short on every level.
