One of my favorite things to do in class is ask my students to rank our screened materials at the end of the semester. The results are not often surprising, but they're still interesting/instructive.

I hate to be that person, but it *does* annoy me that #StrangerThings is using the 765 area code when it was, in fact, not created until the late 90s in Indiana.
“Stranger Things” is the latest show to offer Easter eggs for viewers who try to call a fictional character. If you call the number, it really does sound like you have reached through time, space and the barrier between fiction and fact.
When the Phone Number in That TV Show Actually Connects Somewhere
Passing on the classic 555 number, “Stranger Things” is the latest show to offer Easter eggs for viewers who try to call a fictional character.

It’s weird, though I guess unsurprisingly, how quickly we’re operating as if the Netflix/WB deal will be approved and without any changes to the deal. A press release isn’t a done deal!

I think they should do a World Cup draw every month. Don't even play the matches. Just put worse and worse celebs up there to rip balls

Nearly $500 million on administrator salaries, with another round of serious academic cuts coming soon.
University of Nebraska now spends more on administrators and managers than on faculty
At first glance, they look like raises. At the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, a music professor’s salary jumped $13,000 in the past decade.

Look, it’s not open mic night in America
Really incredible stuff from Bill Simmons, who of all the possible angles chose “this isn’t so bad because famous people can make their OWN platforms and don’t need networks anymore,” and then hit us with a “brought to you by FanDuel” outro. No one’s doing it like him.
