Fantastic evening judging the school talent show on Thursday.

Congratulations to Six (the audience vote) and The Magic Boys (the judges vote) on your wins but a huge well done to everyone involved - you are all pretty amazing 🤩

A Thursday throwback to a wonderful afternoon in July when we celebrated the success of Cornwall SCITT ‘Class of 2024’!

Very proud of every one of this group of teachers who are now making a difference in schools & honoured to think I played a small part in their journey.

Join me for our next Get into Secondary Teaching event and find out about training to teach in beautiful Cornwall!

Slight cheeky but @cornwallscitt.bsky.social have a new Blue Sky account so all follows and shares would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you @emmaturner75.bsky.social for putting this so eloquently. “The lost art of planning” also results in the loss of creativity & teacher autonomy.

Trust the process, trust staff and trust that teachers want the best experience & outcomes for pupils. Let them create & tailor that experience.

Looking to share a podcast focusing on modelling next week with my trainees during our ITaP - any recommendations?

Could feature general modelling, modelling to reduce cognitive load, use of I do, we do, you do, metacognitive modelling - my mind is drawing a blank this evening!

A great view from @greeborunner.bsky.social - scripted lessons are an increasing issue for us in ITT with a growing reluctance to let trainees plan their own lessons or adapt tasks. How else can they learn and apply those basic, fundamental skills whilst on placement?
"teaching is, above all, a human endeavour. We employ people for their knowledge but also for their care, their humour and their empathy. Let’s try not to script that out of the classroom."

Fantastic, balanced piece from @greeborunner.bsky.social

Scripted lessons: explicit equity or every teacher’s nightmare?
Supporters say they cut workload and improve consistency, but could no-deviation scripts actually work in classrooms?

Wow - what a play! I’ve never seen anything quite like this. Jodie Cromer commands the stage for the entire 1 hour and 40ish minutes and not a moment is lost. Utterly phenomenal!

If you’ve not seen it then try and get yourself to one of the National Theatre screenings over the next week or so.

Fantastic day launching our PGCE modules alongside colleagues from Bath Spa to a combined group of both our Primary and Secondary cohort today. Lots of information but they were still keen to get stuck in - always a good sign!

…. And we’re back in the game! A great day so far with our new trainee cohort; a lovely buzz in the room during icebreakers and a real excitement for beginning their journey into teaching with us today.

An excellent decision - single word grades are so dismissive of everything that goes into and on in a school, regardless of whether the school is doing well or not.

Very interested to witness the creation and implementation of ‘report cards’ for Sept. 2025.
BREAKING | Some big #Ofsted news to start the new school year, as the DfE announces that single-word ‘headline’ inspection grades have been scrapped with immediate effect.

A terrific post with lots of useful advice for ITT students, ECTs and anyone returning to the classroom after the summer break who is currently sat at home thinking, “How do I teach again?” 👩‍🏫
Six years ago, literally nobody asked me what my advice would be for new teachers starting in September.

So I told them.

And now, years later, still nobody has asked me.

So here it is again

Watched a fantastic youth production of ‘Everybody’s Talking about Jamie’ this afternoon - so many talented teens (including ex-students) living their best life and giving it absolute beans. 👠
