"Believe me, my young friend, there is NOTHING-absolutely nothing-half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats."
Minnehaha Creek should stay frozen for the foreseeable future. I put the first bike track down in the 2nd Ave to Cedar section.

There is one place in Minneapolis where ICE never is: on the frozen surface of our many city lakes.
If you need to take a short break.

Minneapolis: MLK was born on this day.
I'm going to carry that with me as I go about my business , and hope others do too.

"Well...you're gonna need a snow shovel, friends. And a broom or something..."
Cathy Wurzer doing some amazing double entendres while teasing the weather report, before the top story on MPR this morning.
January 15, 2026 at 12:46 PM
This "shovel attack" story is what happens when you ask an AI to cover up your crime and the victim is Minnesotan.

ICE cracked Frey's resolve, and emboldened them. But Frey isn't from Minneapolis, and never will be. Luckily there are plenty of people who ARE from Minneapolis (plenty who were not born here even) and we will win.

People are correct that Minneapolis is being used as a testing ground for militarized authoritarianism.
But:
Companies have been testing products here for decades. But when they fail you never hear of it again. When was last time you saw an OK Soda or a Crystal Pepsi? ICE will be gone the same way.
January 13, 2026 at 12:58 PM
Even the local hardware store is trolling ICE now.
January 13, 2026 at 12:44 PM
Ah.
Ye Olde follow the helicopter to find the protest march.
Everything they do makes us stronger.
January 10, 2026 at 8:31 PM
With all that has been happening it is important to remember that the whole military-occupation-of-American-cities thing began when "Big Balls" got his shit rocked by a 14 year old girl and the bloody nose got on his stupid white jeans.
"Don't give them an excuse."
C'mon people...
January 10, 2026 at 4:11 PM
The ICE-backing Angie Craig has not texted me in a few days asking for money, so that is a good development.
January 10, 2026 at 2:56 PM
Deer graze near headstones in Minneapolis where two labor organizers are buried. 10k people attended their funeral in 1919 after they were found bludgeoned to death by the train tracks during an attempt to unionize the railway workers. News accounts said they were hit by a train. Propaganda!

Thinking about all the Minneapolis volunteer ICE observer patrols that have been activated and how beautiful it will be when inevitably someone meets the love of their life, then soon:
"...You can't change the children of the revolution, no you won't change the children of the revolution..."
January 9, 2026 at 8:53 PM
Renee's killer joined ICE in 2015, and is also a member of the St. Paul SWAT team? Has SPPD announced cutting ties?
Also anyone talking about how the problem is "not enough training" doesn't understand the issue at all. He was a firearms instructor for the FBI and ATF.
January 9, 2026 at 1:22 PM
I get the instinct to say "Be safe out there!"
But no one is safe, and that's why we need to be out here.
January 8, 2026 at 10:35 PM
I still have not seen MPD intervene to enforce laws that ICE has been breaking, and now they are murdering people so it was all just talk. Not going to be worshipping O'Hara or Frey for spinning lies that provide false hope.

Klobuchar take:
She has accepted a massive amount of money from mining interests over the years. So just like everything else happening lately, Walz stepping aside might just be an opportunistic scramble for natural resources (that happen to be located in/near the Boundary Waters).

There are a lot of people who are commenting on the kidnapping of Maduro in Venezuela who need to listen to the 1990 Geto Boys song "City Under Siege" for a quick history lesson.
January 3, 2026 at 2:35 PM
Frozen Minnehaha Creek was good today, switching between the packed single track on shore, and picking a line on the fresh snow. Fun following animal tracks, footprints from various shoe sizes, and a section that was clearly left packed by a kid rolling in the snow.

The Feeding Our Future scheme is a pretty big deal I guess, but we pretty much got to the bottom of it. Minnesota has a new question:
Can we start investigating WHERE DID GLEN TAYLOR GET HIS MONEY?
Wikipedia claims he was a farmhand who invested in a graphic design company...and I smell a rat.
December 30, 2025 at 3:04 PM
Sure is pretty. Don't drive.

First time using Old Time Cobblers on Lyndale and Lake: full Red Wings refurbish and resole, feel great. Not too many left doing this in Minneapolis.
December 20, 2025 at 12:36 AM
I’m pretty sure that my biggest Millenial tell is I always type nevermind as one word, never two, and when spellcheck underlines it in red, become personally offended that Cobain’s legacy is being mocked by a lowly algorithm .
December 12, 2025 at 3:01 AM
Amongst the breathless accolades after yesterday’s presser, I think people are missing the most important part of what Minneapolis Chief O’Hara said: “police have been instructed to keep their riot gear with them at all times.”
Who would that be used against?!
December 3, 2025 at 5:56 PM
It’s super funny to see all these people on here dunking on Kash Patel, pining for the return of the “real fbi.”
Quit embarrassing yourself and read up on J Edgar Hoover. That organization has always existed for, and been led by depraved right-wing extremists.
X-files was great show, but fiction!
