The African Diaspora did not begin in one place or move along a single path.

Understanding the full geography of enslavement helps us move beyond simplified origin stories and toward a deeper reckoning with how African lives were transformed into commerce across Europe and the Atlantic world.

Not every conversation is public.
Some of the most meaningful ones happen quietly. At the kitchen table, on a phone call, or in moments of honest listening.

Starting a conversation counts, even when no one else sees it.
Private is valid.

MLK Day is a call to conscience, not comfort.

“Conscience asks the question: Is it right?”

Service lives in everyday choices to act with integrity, even when it isn’t easy or popular.

Many of us were taught early that effort alone wasn’t enough.
That we had to be exceptional just to be seen as capable.

This isn’t about competition. It’s about survival inside systems that didn’t offer the same margin for error.

There is power in showing up together. In shared space. In honest conversation.

These gatherings are about connection, not perfection. About listening as much as speaking. About remembering that community is not something we do alone.

Access to transportation isn’t just about getting from point A to point B. It shapes where we can work, learn, and show up for our communities. When transit systems don’t reach everyone equally, the impact is felt every day in missed opportunities and longer journeys.
