VFX artist. At an age where high excitement is trying a new flavor of loose-leaf tea.
The auction listing for the contents of 32Ten Studios (former ILM offices) bring back sad memories of Boss Films shutting down:

I’ve got a soft spot for the movie Swingers (1996) because I was in L.A. at the same time & age as the characters.

Shared it with my kids tonight. They were amazed to see a buff Jon Favreau whom they knew only as Happy in the Marvel movies.

The answering machine scene stilll is wonderful !

The Last of Us s1e3 is one of the best episodes of television this year.

I love the Lucasfilm party invitations.
This one is an instant classic! https://t.co/sB05tbptrR

Despite this popup I’m really impressed how quick this old box is….faster than my new machines at opening docs and browsing the Internet.

For context, I'm copying family photos off the electronics of an elderly relative.

This morning I needed a 30-pin Apple cable, and also a keyboard & mouse with PS/2 plugs.

For everyone else who keeps boxes of old cables and obsolete electronics just in case — you may share in my triumph! https://t.co/IaXthhMfJu

I don't think I'll ever have a better theater experience than being young and waiting in lines around the block to see these on the giant screen at the Cinema in Corte Madera.

The 1980's was a great time to be a pre-teen! Was there a better four-year stretch of blockbusters than:

1980: Empire
1981: Raiders of the Lost Ark
1982: E.T.
1982: Wrath of Khan
1983: Jedi https://t.co/XtV4EgEamY

In the Q&A after the VES screening, Jim Cameron addresses why they varied the apparent frame rate:
HFR gives better 3D and more clarity, but also looks less filmic.
I'd still like to hear technical details.

His reply is at 37:47 in this movie:

#vesavatar2 Please talk about the variable frame rate — what you discovered artistically and how it worked technically.

I also asked ChatGPT how to extract a bluescreen. After 30 years in this business, it's still the most difficult task I have to do.
One day I'll be able to hit a button and the bluescreen will extract itself.
In the meantime ChatGPT gave this textbook-worthy overview: https://t.co/o76a1ype4Y

I asked the AI bot ChatGPT which is better: practical or digital visual effects.

I was hoping for something entertaining. Would our AI overlords be biased towards CGI?

Instead it gave ... a really great answer. https://t.co/lNlwyB9eIS

Interesting theory that the current spate of dark/low contrast shows is a result of cinematographers & colorists getting used to seeing logarithmic digital images. https://t.co/20t3lq2UIZ

My tween & teen boys loved Trollhunters.

This thread is a nice list of animated series on Netflix worth watching that were released with little promotion and got buried. https://t.co/5N2BWd5g5z

I got two answers correct on the SAT exam because of words I learned from The Mighty Thor comics.

Thor would always say, "That is beyond mortal ken" and "I must husband my strength." https://t.co/Tz6eEqfblG

The second is really my favorite: a closeup of the Hammerhead pushing into the Star Destroyer.
The extra little crunch at the end is a wonderful touch that really sells the moment.
The sim artists must have had a lot of fun here and later with the Star Destroyers colliding. https://t.co/t0l0gxjUWU

In a film full of beautiful visual effects shots -- and #RogueOne has a lot of gorgeous work -- there are two moments I really love.
First are the X-wings crashing off the shield barrier. 3/ https://t.co/Srn2HY9p3H

And we were treated to a special guest appearance of Rogue One director Gareth Edwards!

I hadn’t heard the story that the planet Scarif got its name because he went to Starbucks and that’s what the barista wrote on his cup.

Watched #RogueOne at ILM tonight in preparation for #Andor next week.
It’s even better than I remembered.
Outside was a nice collection of memorabilia including these posters. The left-most one is my favorite! 1/ https://t.co/ROdXgbRzFK

I haven’t re-watched Bill & Ted since it was released 33 years ago.

But I still think “Strange things are afoot at the Circle K!” every time I pass one.

Some deep cuts here, including the first reference to The Shaggy DA I’ve seen since the 1970’s. https://t.co/QdMhHSzhYF
