Plans to replace a row of shops in Barking with an high rise block of flats were approved by Barking & Dagenham Council.

The part 30/8 floor scheme, 192 flats for rent including 30 for Discount Market Rent. These are up to 80% of market rents.

676 rental flats proposed for East Croydon.

The site was sold as part of the councils initial fire-sale of assets for just £20 million, following the collapse of council owned developer Brick by Brick.

Site could be worth as much as £200 million, which had planning permission for 400 flats.

This is equivalent to just over 2yrs of the boroughs total housing target of 4,480 in the period 2018/19 - 2028/29.

🚉 Car lite scheme, as it is close to Overground extension that opened in 2022.

🏠 54% proposed as affordable, of which 181 are for social rent and 173 for intermediate rent.

The Thames Gateway Bridge (TGB) has been axed for good, following the lifting of safeguarding directions.

In November we reported on an over 2,000 home masterplan submitted to Newham Council which included 3.6 hectares of land subject to that safeguarding

This evening Barnet Council are to determine plans for 3000+ homes at a shopping centre in Edgware are recommended for approval.

Would deliver 10% of Barnet’s 10yr housing target and £60m in council and mayoral Community Infrastructure Levy obligations.
