the Epstein files are really devastating because they remind me of how many girls and women miss out on professional opportunities, mentorship and careers because of how many powerful, rich and influential men only view girls and women — and interactions with them — through the lens of sex

God fucking dammit Darren. How in the hell do you go from doing the nebula in The Fountain by filming chemical reactions under a microscope rather than CGI to doing this?

This is the best speech, just from a pure rhetoric perspective - its sophistication and persuasiveness - that I've seen a politician deliver in a good long while. Really recommend watching or reading the whole thing.
A YouTube link for those looking for it. No words.

My coverage from Minneapolis for @rollingstone.com is live. I spent the latter part of last week and some of the weekend watching as the city's people came together to figure out how to honor an innocent woman who shouldn't have died while figuring out how to protect itself from what's coming.

Ender's Game remains my favourite novel. Card's homophobia and reactionary activism isn't like Gaiman or Lovecraft or Rowling because it doesn't fit. I know many Ender's Game fans have to reconcile the two by speculating that Card is closeted, but I can't go there. I just ignore him.
Sandman used to be my all-time favorite comic book, but new insights into Gaiman as a person have corrupted the art itself, knowing what bore it. It is impossible to read Morpheus now as anything but a self-congratulatory self-portrait of a monster.
“Whats your favorite thing that was made by an absolute cunt?”

Not my favorite thing anymore (I haven’t looked at it since) but maybe a few months or so before he was outed, I’d saved up my money to buy a complete set since my old copies were worn down.

I’ve never regretted any purchase harder.

one of the things i hate most about this persistent line of argument is the implication that any of these actions would be fine if groceries were cheaper
The White House is laser focused on threatening a military takeover of Greenland.

Where’s the same focus on lowering costs?

Parisot (the Director) tells a story about how Tim Allen just started crying after a scene one day

"I don't like these feelings i'm having." Says Tim. "I'm going back to my trailor" and walks off.

There's silence for a second.

"Oh my god." Says Rickman. "I think Tim just experienced acting."
Galaxy Quest - a perfect movie, just a wonderful love letter to actors, sci-fi, Star Trek in particular, and to fandom - really deserves a proper physical release with decent extras. Think Weaver's right that releasing a R-rated cut would be fun, too.
Sigourney Weaver Says She Wishes DreamWorks Released A Director’s Cut Of ‘Galaxy Quest,’ Reminisces On Sequel That Never Came To Pass
Sigourney Weaver reflected on cult classic Galaxy Quest and how she wishes the sci-fi satire had released an R-rated director's cut.

The name "Popular Science" doesn't mean we shift our coverage depending on public opinion. It means we cover relevant subjects that are rigorously researched, reliable, and grounded in reality.

And trans lives are grounded in reality.

We see y'all. No matter what.
