FYI: I believe that BLM ("matter" is the minimum), we should protect trans kids, gender is a wide spectrum, love is love, no human being is illegal, abortion is healthcare, and there should be no billionaires. If you agree, let's keep in touch and nerd out while we make some incredible art together.
"If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world." - Thorin Oakenshield

Stolen Silver Spoons Lite reminds us two things can be true: You can be fierce and gentle. You can be small and still have a significant impact.

A reminder many of us could use.🧶

Stolen Silver Spoons Lite is now available on Ravelry and Ko-fi! I hope this pattern, inspired by the hobbits of the shire, plant a little more hope into the world.

If you'd like more detailed info on sizing, gauge, yarn, etc. you can find it on the pages linked below.🧶

I have a new pattern coming next week. It feels ridiculous to be posting about it. But I know art is why lots of us keep going.

I also know that finances are tight for most of us. So if you want to support my work without spending money (totally get it) check out my comment below for ideas. 🧶

COMING NEXT WEEK!

It's finally happening, y'all! Stolen Silver Spoons Lite will be available on Ravelry and Ko-fi next week on Thursday, June 26th.

Who's ready to take another trip to the Shire? 🧶

Look, I know with everything going on right now, caring about a new podcast episode feels dumb.

But after 2 months away, I uploaded a new episode 🎉 Turns out I've been struggling with creative burnout.

So I'm taking a knitting "sabbatical." Come plan my projects with me? 🧶

Some of us aren't able to attend protests for accessibility reasons. It got me thinking...

We all have the capacity to stand up and gifts to use in times of turmoil. If you can't attend protests, don't despair. Use your agency. Protests are only one arm of resistance - we need all hands to win.

Emerging from my social media hole simply to announce that after 8 weeks of abstaining from the fiber arts due to severe pain, I can FINALLY KNIT AGAIN! 🎉

That is all.

My creative process may be punk AF. Not because of what I create, but because of *why* I create.

When something bad happens, I feel an intense pull to make something connected to things that make me feel strong and full of hope.

When the world says, "Eat shit" my heart says: "Fuck that. Make art."

Over the last week, I've been celebrating my Hobbit inspired designs. Let's highlight Stolen Silver Spoons.

This pattern was born from Imposter Syndrome. But from her sprung an adventure.

Spoons proves 2 things can be true. You can be fierce and gentle. And you can't have courage without fear. 🧶

I feel like we talk a lot about successes as knitwear designers, which is great!

But I don't tend to hear about the flops. So here's mine: Chiefest Calamity Cowl. This colorwork pattern is inspired by Smaug. Idk why he flopped.

I love my dragon anyway. He's also 25% off rn. 🧶 Use the code EREBOR.

On this day in Middle Earth, April 28th, the dwarves of Erevor left Bag End to retake the Lonely Mountain. Let's celebrate their quest!

Use the code EREBOR to get 25% off all Hobbit inspired Common Thread patterns on Ravelry and Ko-fi.

New Theory: Garth from Supernatural is actually Tom Bombadil.

I will not elaborate.

Y'all know I'm a huge nerd. I design knitting patterns based on seriously nerdy shit, I run an international Discord server for nerdy fiber artists, I host a nerdy podcast...

I love a good fandom. In case there's any doubt: Harry Potter ain't a good fandom.

Trans women are women. Fuck JK Rowling.

Hey, fellow knitters, I'm feeling particularly creatively dead lately. I'm trying to stoke the fire. So I'm wondering: What are your favorite Spring Knitting Projects?

Usually, I love a good hat - like the ones pictured here. Maybe it's time for a new hat project...what do y'all think? #knitting 🧶

Well. 0/10 do not recommend the, "A tornado ripped through my town a block away from my house" experience.

I will now be stuck dreaming in the Twister soundtrack for the rest of the night.

Y'all, the response to I Am No Man today has me in happy tears. Thank you.

Just know: with every interaction, a short nerdy redhead did a happy dance.

I love finding fantasy enthusiasts in the knitting world. Y'all are my people. To quote my favorite dwarf: "You have my axe." 🧶 #knitting

I know this is so stupid in the grand scheme of things, but I've sold 96 I Am No Man Pullover patterns. I'm dying to get to 100. And atm, she's 25% off.

So uhm...anyone in the market for a knitting sweater pattern inspired by feminine rage and power? Details & links in comments below. 🧶 #knitting

I can FINALLY share this shawl, in all its glory, and the inspiration behind it! Introducing: Tree Herder, a worsted weight half-pie shawl inspired by Tree Beard. Available now on Ravelry and soon to be on Ko-fi. 🧶

I'm in love with Harper's I Am No Man - the yarn they chose is so freaking good.
New cast on: I Am No Man by @commonthreadfiber.bsky.social. I've had this pattern on my list for *ages* and am aiming to have it done for next month's screening of Return of the King at my local indie cinema.

I've been knitting so much that I think I've given myself a repetitive stress injury. There goes my "existential dread coping mechanism" for a bit.

So naturally, I think an Elden Ring replay is in order. Fight existential dread with emotional damage. Makes sense, right?

After a week of posts slamming folks who pirate patterns, I want to share that when you purchase a pattern from me, I see it. Just know: There's a real girl-who-should-have-been-a-daughter-of-Durin behind this screen who celebrates when others join her in knitting more fantasy into the world.

🧶

The one good thing to personally come out of this "pirating knitting patterns" drama? I'm finding so many new-to-me folks (fellow designers, dyers, other makers) to follow.

...and of course, plenty to block, too...🙃

Do y'all know I host a podcast about my knitwear design journey, all the things I'm knitting on the side, and other nerdy tangents? Well, I do. This week we're talking about Hanging Moss, Session Zero, and Stolen Silver Spoons Lite. Come join me? #knitting 🧶

Okay but the number of times I accidentally type "Bimbo Baggins" instead of "Bilbo Baggins" is starting to get out of hand.
