Tonight I had shunting duty. I built a train.
It was terrifying. It was magnificent.

It had a total of two wagons. Empty wagons.

Sunny day. In the middle of the picture a fairly new locomotive of the type BR 193 from SBB Cargo can be seen. It looks like it just rolled out of the factory with how clean it is.

From a locomotive's driver seat a rainbow can be seen in the distance. It's afternoon, but still daylight. Four tracks in parallel indicate a siding for overtakes where I got sent into to wait for faster traffic to pass me.

One fun part about driving freight trains is you get lots of chances to shoot photos.

When waiting on my train home I saw this motive at the Cologne Trade Fare/Deutz station and found it to be pretty.

It's a summer afternoon. The picture is divided into 3 'levels'. On the upper level you can see the cloudy sky and a tall building. On the middle level there is a train leaving the upper level of Cologne Trade Fare/Deutz station with some visible catenary. On the lower level you can see a signal from the side on a mast and the roof of the lower 2 platforms of the station with some adverts.

This shift was pure pain.

It took me 3,5h to get from Duisburg to Cologne as on the entire way there was massive traffic congestion going on.

Locomotive is a swiss Re482.

Have to take the chance and snap a photo while waiting for overtakes to happen.

This is in Flieden, facing south towards Hanau where I took the train further down to Mannheim via Darmstadt.

Loco is a Swiss Re482 TRAXX F140 AC1.

Train from Hamburg Harbor to the south of Germany. I took this picture in Lehrte freight yard if I’m not mistaken.

On that night it was so foggy I could barely see 30m in front.

Made for a nice background, though.

The locomotive is a BR 193 Siemens Vectron Variant A22 with D, A, CH, I and NL packs installed.
