The 100mph wind gusts really did a number on things. So much broken stuff, I wasn’t able to catch a pic of the house taken out by the roof of their shop flying into it. Yet I did catch this sign that got folded right over. It was standing last time I went by.

Good start to the morning. Threw out a quick ft8 cq and immediately got a rely from South Africa, 9,500miles to NE. Im not much of a morning person, but being up in time to catch the gray line does make up for it. Now if only the rest of the day can go this good. Happy Friday everyone!

Over the weekend I played around with making a hairpin coil as a learning project to see how it works. Shortened the dipole ends and then added/removed coil wraps until I got it to 50 ohms. I don’t actually need it for my antenna, but it was still a fun little project to learn how to do it. #HamNoob

Last night my buddy and I made contact on some psk31, rtty and olivia. Yet we could not get JS8Call to work. I had it working at one point then it stopped. Exact same settings as wsjtx and fldigi which both work but js8call just does not output any audio at all, even with volume adjusted.

Pretty good first day of the year! Spent part of it tweaking my antenna and then started doing QRP on ft8 and was having good luck making contacts at 0.5w! Tonight im planning to try contacting a buddy on psk31, rtty, and js8call, and maybe some others for fun. Happy New Years! #HamRadio

Instead of running FT8 while i work, today i've switched over to WSPR. It's fun to switch it up and try different modes. I did one tx cycle and was hitting Australia from Colorado at 1w so pretty happy with how my antenna is doing.

A few days ago I took the JBC-12 I got for Christmas out to the Soux Army Depot and setup on one. The depot is 800 huge, thick concrete domes covered with a layer of dirt that were used during WW2 for storing munitions. There are igloos stretching as far as you can see in every direction. #HamRadio

Been working on a project using svelte instead of react and I must say, I like it much better. React can be so convoluted and im sure svelte can be too but so far its been really great to work with.

Great evening for my daily bike ride. A little chilly but not unbearable. Skipped the last few days because the wind was blowing me backwards faster then I could pedal.

Been way caught up playing Arc Raiders. Going solo and running into chill people to team up with has been some of the most fun ive ever had with extraction shooters.

Something kinda funny I noticed this weekend is that some stations doing the DX contest call CQ over and over so fast without pausing once in awhile, that their just calling over the top of everyone trying to answer them. Probably kinda hard to rack up contacts if you never let anyone answer lol.

Why does this happen on PSKReporter sometimes? Randomly spotted on a completely different band then your working.

Got the coax for my HF antenna rerouted into the house better and all sealed up for winter. After hitting below freezing a few nights, decided it was probably a good time to stop running it through an open window and run a more permanent install so i can stay warm and cozy while playing radio.

One time as a child i bought a wet suit, while living in the only triple land locked state in the country... turned out to be useless when your surrounded by nothing but endless fields. Then when i finally reached the ocean, it no longer fit.

Spinning the dial today I heard someone call QRL on 14.300 a bunch and got no response. Then they said CQ Pota and instantly several people came on yelling to get off their frequency. WTF is wrong with the MMN people, they dont own that freq, and being so nasty to the activator was uncalled for.

Taking a drink of red bull right after eating a banana mixes for an odd flavor... not necessarily one i found pleasant.

10m FT8 has been doing super good lately. Been getting DX running at 10w. Normally I only have that sorta luck on 20m.

Went to do my usual morning 20m FT8 and the local radio station is blowing right over it today. It usually blast out the entire 12m band leaving it unusable but this is the first time its caused issues on 20. Guess it’s time to get a band pass filter.
