Federal cuts are threatening housing stability. That's why I proposed a $10M rental assistance amendment to the budget, and I'm proud my colleagues unanimously co-sponsored it. We must support Seattle's low-income renters and the housing providers who serve them.

Anticipating that Mayor Harrell would use the authority granted by the state legislature to raise the sales tax for public safety, I led Council in staking a claim for a portion of the .1% increase to be used for drug treatment. This is a win for recovery!

Today, recovery wins! This will save lives.

Addiction is a root cause of our public safety and homelessness challenges so investing this new revenue in recovery services isn’t just fiscally responsible, it's the morally right thing to do.

Hard to believe I’m five years sober today – never thought I’d make it even one! Everyone’s path to recovery is different which is why I’m so focused on expanding addiction treatment options and services.

I am proud of all of the work we have done, like the Storefront Repair Fund or the two pieces of permitting reform legislation we passed to help small businesses. Because it's not enough to get our Seattle entrepreneurs and workers back to business—we have to keep them here.

Little Saigon, I haven't' forgotten you. I stand with community in support and sponsorship of this 15-point plan, and I'll do everything in my power to see that it's implemented.

Got the munchies? Forgot an ingredient for dinner? Feel like some coffee or need diapers for the baby? Well, good news! Council just passed 46 Comp Plan amendments, including crowd-favorite #65, allowing corner stores on all lots -- so your life just got easier!

This legislation is about turning 'For Lease' signs into 'Grand Opening' banners. We're removing costly, unnecessary roadblocks which slow housing construction, inhibit economic growth, and increase building project cost and hassle. 1/2

This was the right decision. And it’s what happens when your City leaders listen to YOU. I stand with the LGBTQ+ community against bullying and harassment, and I am committed to upholding Seattle's values as a welcoming and inclusive City for all.

I had City leaders present on 3 Auditor reports that are a roadmap of what the city ought to be doing to address violence & crime. Public Safety is one of our paramount duties as a city and its Council’s job as the oversight body to make sure the departments are making progress.

Happening tomorrow in my committee: I'm hosting the leaders of the Seattle Police, Seattle Fire, and Human Services departments to see what progress has been made on the City Auditor's recommendations to reduce gun violence, drug overdoses, and retail crime. Tune in on the Seattle Channel at 2 pm.

I’m fighting to put treatment at the center of the city’s agenda because addiction is a root cause of our public safety & chronic homelessness challenges. Investing in recovery-based services & housing is a fiscally responsible use of this new revenue, and it’s also morally the right thing to do.

Here's what I learned about addiction at 12th and Jackson | Op-Ed
Leaving people too impaired to make rational judgements about their own well-being is not compassion; it is neglect. A City Council proposal could help.

I’m fighting to put treatment at the center of the City’s agenda. Because continuing to defer investment in treatment is not just fiscally irresponsible; it’s a moral failure. That’s why I'm proposing using up to 25% of any public safety sales tax to support treatment and recovery.
