Another medieval-ish illustration. This time of friar Horbrooke, my beloved philosopher who has never ever been suspicious even once (I am lying). #malevolent

portrait of Friar Horbrooke, a medieval monk with a tonsure. He is holding a pater noster cord to his lips and behind his there is an illustration of the beads of the cord but one has been replaced by a skull and another by a terrestrial globe in which Europe and North Africa are seen with the Greenwich meridian over them. The portrait is decorated with the drawing of a dove with a gaping wound in its chest from which fire springs out, and flowers upon a thorny branch. Red and Green are the most prominent colours for details such as the thorn bush or the background behind the dove, and brown for his hair, tunic, and the wooden pater noster beads. The bead depicting the world offers a pop of blue.
