Employment Support Services in Ontario - Under pressure, Underperforming, Underwhelming - Community Living Ontario
Will anything change after more than five years of criticism? Community Living Ontario has published two reports on Ontario Progressive Conservative changes to employment programs (now called 'Integrated Employment Services') over the past few years. The reports were published in partnership with the Ontario Disability Employment Network (ODEN) under the banner of "Tangled in Red Tape," and they offer a discouraging picture.

Our Student Links coordinator Sharon helped a Toronto student with an intellectual disability turn his love of transit into a real learning moment. She arranged a visit with two TTC constables who explained how the system works and introduced him to future opportunities. bit.ly/CLOStudentLinks

Through our Student Links Initiative, Brianna worked with dog trainer Chip Kean at Kean’s K9 Obedience Training. With more than 40 years of experience, Chip guided her through a four-week puppy training class, teaching her patience, skill, and confidence.

Spotlighting Erica — a true example of inclusive employment in action.

With support from our Labour Market Facilitator, she completed training and began working at the LCBO’s Summerhill location. She quickly proved her reliability and strong work ethic.
