Genuinely stunned by the scale of this. I'm comforted by assurances from Citizen, but this must not happen again. www.coventrytelegraph.net/news/coventr...

It was my great honour to propose Mark Robins for the Coventry Award of Merit. His vision & leadership turned the Sky Blues around -getting to within a penalty kick of the Premier League. The award is reserved for those who have made an outstanding contribution to city life. 👏

Last week I had the pleasure of being on #QueenMary2 captained by Coventry's own Aseem Hashmi. As we mark #vjday2025 it's made me reflect on the contribution the merchant navy made in ww2. Our brave sailors risked, & sacrificed, their lives in the name of freedom. Never forgotten

Great to see the work that's going on to breathe new life into this venerable, & much loved old school. We were always clear we wanted the Woodlands Academy site to be retained for educational use when it closed. So these are exciting times!
Work is moving at pace on the £23m transformation of Woodlands School thanks to Clegg Construction 🚧

From new walls, to car parks, to a pupil-designed mural, this project is building more than classrooms – it’s creating a space where young people can thrive.

An honour to attend #ArmedForcesDay2025 in Coventry on Saturday. Our forces risk everything to keep us safe in an uncertain world. They deserve our enduring respect and gratitude.

Abandoned vehicles are a blight on our community. It's ridiculous that authorities can't remove them until tax has been expired for two months and a day - it might as well be forever and a day! www.coventrytelegraph.net/news/coventr...

My thanks to @itvcentral.bsky.social for covering this story. I'm also grateful to residents for coming along and being part of the story. The petition opposing the 'Hawkshurst' development is nearing 1,400 signatures and there is still time to add your name: tinyurl.com/5vm52pxy

These comments from Jackie's new #ReformUK supporters are utterly appalling. We've all got a duty to challenge and call out racism. I've challenged her in the other place to condemn them - so far silence.

Total betrayal of voters in Sherbourne & Westwood. People voted for Conservative representation, not the Farage personality cult. Both councillors should resign their seat & stand under their new banner. If you believe in democracy you should give people a say over who they're represented by.
Two Coventry councillors move to Reform from Conservatives
Marcus Lapsa and Jackie Gardiner defect to Nigel Farage's party.

When Woodlands Academy closed we were always really clear that we wanted the site to be retained for educational use. So it was great to visit yesterday and see it's re-birth well underway!

It was a wet day yesterday - but that didn't stop us getting out across the ward to discuss policing issues! My thanks to Detective Inspector Andrew Mitcham from @westmidlandspolice.bsky.social for taking the time to engage with us.

Been to visit the amazing Charterhouse today. It's the newest property in the @nationaltrust.org.uk portfolio and well worth a visit. A real hidden gem in our own fair city. Full credit to Historic Coventry Trust for the work they've done to preserve it.

At last! Upper Eastern Green Road is looking great after recent improvement works which will soon be completed. My thanks to the team who have rolled this out. And above all to the residents whose support has made this happen.

A few weeks ago I visited Mauthausen concentration camp. It's a testament to the extraordinary evil that humans are capable of. As we mark #VEDay today I'll be thinking of the victims of that brutal regime and the sacrifices that ordinary people made to defeat the Nazis.

The developer behind the unauthorised demolition of 34–36 Earlsdon Street is appealing the stop-notice issued by the Council. If successful, they could resume tearing it down. I’ve submitted my objection. Find out how you can too. @echocommunitynews.bsky.social

Great to speak to @cwgc.bsky.social and experience the For Evermore Tour this afternoon ahead of #VEDay80 - So important that we preserve these human stories of sacrifice and endurance and pass them onto future generations.

Getting people back to work is crucial, but the system needs to protect those who can’t & help those who can. The #SpringStatement2025 feels like a panic reaction to a declining economic outlook and I worry it's the most vulnerable that will suffer.

This week I submitted a 950+ signature petition regarding the unlawful #EarlsdonStreet demolition. The developer must be prosecuted, the building rebuilt and the Conservation Area status reviewed. If this doesn't happen unscrupulous developers across the city will do what they like.
