Someone tried saying the Roman Empire wasn't morivated by profit and I was shocked. I didn't realize there were people that misunderstood that empire so fundamentally.
The Romans valued profit heavily, and that caused socioeconomic disparities, leading to unrest. Profit was part of their undoing.

Had to take a break from embroidery bc the lady next to me on the train would not stop talking to me (literally 13 hours of yapping) & it put me in a space where I could only do the bare minimum or rot on the couch. But I'm ready to get back at it! Here's where I left off.

I feel a little torn about the maduro situation. On one hand, he was, in fact, a dictator that needed to go. On the other hand, the USA has a habit of destabilizing countries by gathering them up, wringing them out, and leaving them on the back burner to completely fall apart. It feels ominous, imo.

Okay so that's cornmeal, babe. If you didn't soak it in an alkaline solution (a process called nixtamalization*), then you didn't make masa. 🤷🏻

Decided to work this motif upside-down, that way the back can still be nice and clean. I expected it to be more confusing, but it's literally the exact same experience - so I'm pretty relieved. I hate when embroidery is stressful 😅

I have such extreme views on american republicans that I don't think I could ever hold office. I want them all gone. Eradicated, exiled, I don't care. I would even be down for sacrificing a few ships to shoot them into the sun. Anything would work at this point.

Soooooo close to finishing that left-hand tree. I have to break the bottoms into two portions to make it all fit on my hoop, but it makes it feel like it goes faster, so I'm not mad about it 🙂↕️
