An absolute delight talking to Lucia Kendall.

Not only is she a talented player she's well aware of her role as an entertainer.

A little bit, yes. Not enough that I'm not devastated by today's result though! I really wish AV had shown what they could do against another team!

I have considered Villa my second team (women and men) for a little while though.

Very mixed feelings here. As a United fan I'm gutted about the result & the performance.

As an admirer of Villa, I'm pleased they've been able to show how good they're becoming.

I asked Aston Villa Women's boss Natalia Arroyo what ONE thing they needed to do well to beat United today.

"Score more goals than them", she quipped.

I've been working on something fun - a monthly box for football-mad girls.

I'd have loved this as a girl and having still not fully grown up, I've created one for the 10-year-old in me and for today's football-mad girls.

I totally agree (meant to explicitly add that). It's women's football and men's football. It's not women's football and football (screw that, btw).

I always use the gender qualifier so sometimes forget others don't always.

Thanks for replying (& not hating me for the post!)

Women's football should distance itself from the toxic overtones men's football has been saddled with and be PROUD to be building something different. Something more inclusive, something aspirational and inspirational.

Thoughts?

I'm about to piss off people in women's football.

I think we SHOULD use the term "women's football" rather than just "football".

Sure the game on the pitch is the same regardless of who's playing it. The game is always football. But the culture is not the same. And I don't want it to be the same.

I'm really enjoying learning more about Natalia Arroyo and the way she's rebuilding Aston Villa.
After two bangers against West Ham last week, Natalia Arroyo, Aston Villa Women's boss, is understandably "more than happy to score amazing goals, but also we need to keep improving to create more."

"This quality in the last third, we are close but we are not as clinical as we need to be."
