I'm running as a Democrat for U.S. Congress in Texas's 11th District. I believe in progressive values, such as the humane treatment of immigrants, civil liberties, and the right to bodily autonomy. Real radical stuff.

Kinda wild that the secret sauce may just be educating non-voters that an election is happening and just asking them to vote for you.
The Biggest Lie in Texas Politics
Ahead of the midterm elections, the state Democratic party is leaning on an old message.

This is appalling. Absolutely appalling. I'm running for U.S. Congress so the legislative branch of government will actually act as a check on this type of abuse of power. I can't believe the people representing my country enjoy hurting people so much. Truly disgusting.

This here is an example of why the social sciences and the "hard" sciences must work hand in hand. Being right means nothing if you can't persuade people to your side, and that rarely happens via ridicule and anger.

Texas measles outbreak hardened Mennonites against vaccines
Months after public health officials say they caused the nation’s largest measles surge in 30 years, some West Texas Mennonites have grown more skeptical of the mainstream medical system.

I just got back from meeting with the McCulloch County Democrats, and folks, let me tell you -- there is nobody fiercer than a Democrat in a rural red county. Those people are not here to play and I loved every minute of my time with them!

She might as well say it out loud: "If you're an immigrant we're happy to use your body as target practice in our wars but as soon as you're no longer useful to us, we get rid of you."
Magaziner: How many US military veterans have you deported?

Noem: We have not deported military veterans.

Magaziner: We are joined on zoom by a gentleman who is an army combat veteran who was shot twice while serving our country. You deported him to Korea.

That's what I'm trying to do in U.S. CD TX-11, a district gerrymandered to be deep red. And I'm not doing it by tacking to the center. Progressives can win by being genuine and open about who they are.
A huge night for Democrats:

—They flip Miami's mayorship.
—They flip a state House district in Georgia that had voted Trump by 13%.
—They keep Albuquerque's mayorship, while the liberal faction flips city council.
—And they get big overperformances (+18 & +22) in 2 Florida specials.

I’m increasingly coming around to the opinion that @yeehawclaire.bsky.social is not trapped in a Republican district, but that they’re trapped with *her*

I loved hearing my name on @dailybeanspod.com this morning! I'm so excited to cause some good trouble in TX-11!

I had a very inspiring evening at the @progresstexas.bsky.social holiday party in Austin. I was particularly happy to be reminded by @saraheckhardttx.bsky.social that the biggest risk isn't in running -- it's in doing nothing.

@mytruantpen.com Thank you so much! It will be an uphill battle (it was designed to favor the current Republican representative, of course). But I am part of this district now and they're going to have to deal with me!
A friend of mine - @yeehawclaire.bsky.social - is running for congress in a deep red district in Texas. It occurs to me that every new gerrymandered district makes each existing one less and less safe. There will be fewer safe voters, less margin of error for mind-changes, bad weather or home sales.

I know @todb2.hugesuccess.org is hoping to hear this afternoon that @crockett.house.gov is going to run. I suspect his main motivation in supporting my congressional run is to meet her. Can't say I blame him!

Texas Republicans never met a made-up culture war that they didn't like. All of these people who proclaim to be doing this to "keep women safe" refuse to acknowledge that this does the exact opposite. You don't need to know what's inside my pants. Ever. www.texastribune.org/2025/12/01/t...
Questions remain on how Texas will enforce new “bathroom bill”
Some trans Texans worry that the lack of specificity on how the law will be enforced will harm their safety and lives.
