-eliminates funding for climate and pollution control;
-sacrifices land for dirty energy profiteering;
-and sticks it to the clean-energy do-gooders and poor communities most ill-equipped to deal with the onslaught of extractive industries and polluting facilities.

Only the gas industry wants hydrogen for building heating. Will politicians have the will to say No?

"Domestic heating was demoted to the 'row of doom' ... as was mid-to-low industrial heat, due to technological advancements in high-temperature heat pumps."

Pathetic.
"This is worse than expected" ~CEG Pres. Seth Mullendore. "We are particularly disappointed in the admin's investment in blue hydrogen, which would more accurately be called fossil hydrogen with carbon capture. The fact that more than half the hubs will be using fossil gas is outrageous."

3/ I understand the EDCs working to the keep the LDCs in business reaping the ~10% return on equity the $40B GSEP guarantees (they make their money on infrastructure not gas, of course) but those reduced size ASHPs will never be inadequate for whole home heating. Then what? Fossil forever?
October 12, 2023 at 9:48 PM
2/ That means they are promoting Eversource's position that keeping the entire $40B gas distribution system in place for just 34 hours of operation per year is the way to go.

1/ Synapse, MassDOER's consultant in the Grid Modernization Advisory Council process, is recommending incentivizing hybrid heating systems, that is undersized ASHPs with retained fossil heating for winter months. While speaking to this slide they said hybrid heating would achieve 95% GHG emissions.
