@ecologysupplies.bsky.social it was cool seeing you all in person at EntSoc. Here is to hoping for some colorful additions to your pro net series in 2026 outside of purple 😊

Super rare that I Merlin picks up not one but two birds to add to my life list. Horned Lark and Purple Finch feels like the name of secret agents, maybe even time travelers who are sworn enemies with just a wisp of intimacy between them.

All signed up for the UC-Riverside Entomology PhD program open house. Future home maybe? 🤷🏾‍♂️

If my research idea comes to fruition, books on seeds will be joining the books on bees on my shelf. 🤓 Not quite a seed book, but I hear amazing things about Botany of Empire.

The naturalist Jane Goodall died today at 91. Hope, she argued, is not merely “passive wishful thinking” but a “crucial survival trait.” Revisit a conversation with Goodall, from 2021: nyer.cm/F55JtsS

My harvest of dragon tongue beans to replant next year. I started off with just 7 seeds that I brought up with me from Florida to Vermont, and after growing them out and saving the seeds I now have a couple hundred to give away. 💜

Maybe I’ve misunderstood the NSF-GRFP this whole time, but as a second year Masters student I’m not actually eligible to apply?

Please share with anyone who cares about NSF support for graduate students and take 30 seconds to sign and leave a comment.

The deadline for the 2025 Graduate Research Fellowship Program is about one month away and literally no one can apply. #NSFGRFP

I can’t believe the leaves are changing already at such a dramatic pace. I really want to pick them up, tape them back up on the trees, paint them green and pretend the cold isn’t coming. ☹️

The struggle to work on one’s thesis over the weekend. If I could just open the document that would be a win.

My okra harvest as of late. I think I’ve officially grown more okra than anything else.

I really do love how simple phone photography can be with its point, shoot, and crop aspects. As much as I would love an amazing DSLR, I’m really starting to just want an upgraded phone camera lens more.

Started reading “Bite by Bite” by Aimee Nezhukumatathil, a book about that explores the way food and drink evoke our associations and remembrances. It is such a beautiful read and highly recommended.

I’ve never thought so much about a graphic novel after reading it as much as I’ve thought of this one. @igotkittypryde.bsky.social did such an amazing job with this.
