Austin expatriate; graybeard music, audio, computer and more kind of guy in rural Bastrop County, Texas.

Decide to have a good day. Kindness is key. The classroom never ends.

And thus & so.
It was a *lot* more fun approaching 20 in the '70s than it is approaching 70 in the '20s.

Speaking as a lifelong Austin music person, this photo, to me, represents SXSW in a nutshell.

Happy Mardi Gras, all! We conjured up a WWOZ stream, and some shrimp/andouille/chicken gumbo & garlic bread to make the bowls clean.

To our Federal work force; to our Democrats; to all:

Refuse to play along.
Refuse to obey unlawful orders.
Refuse to leave.
Never, EVER 'resign on principle.'
Fight for what is right.

Make them throw you out the FRONT door.

And, If They Want To Try, make sure that cameras are there.

Love this. Found on reddit: The bottom layer of rock at Bryce Canyon is the top layer at Zion, and the bottom layer at Zion is the top layer at the Grand Canyon.

I was at the neighborhood rural convenience store, and they had new wide-brimmed straw hats. I put one on, and the guy behind the counter told me that I looked like some crazy old mineral prospector that you'd see in the Arizona desert.

Okay! Score! They didn't have my size, but I would've bought.

How's that Libertarian Utopia thing coming along, America?

Received a "survey" from the DNC in the mail today. I am not a member of the Democratic Party, and they don't get money from me for botching things so badly that we have Trump 2.

Okay, Bluesky, you rawk. I've discovered the Lists feature. (Yeah, it has been right there. In the menu. Over there.)

You can literally create your own feeds of differing interests. Completely buries the FB experience. Curate your own social media. What a concept!

100% win. This is fun again.

Regarding the Superbowl, and Trump attending.

Kendrick Lamar, you're up. Our nation turns its lonely eyes to you. Stare down that evil for your entire set.

Good article on current "white hat" data preservation efforts.

Some of what is going on is known, some of it is normal. A lot of it is malevolent, and good people are aware and working it.

It's important to remember that data dot gov is primarily an aggregator; the data is most often elsewhere.
Archivists Work to Identify and Save the Thousands of Datasets Disappearing From Data.gov
More than 2,000 datasets have disappeared from data.gov since Trump was inaugurated. But analyzing exactly what happened and where it went is going to take some time.

We had a comfort food moment today. Pulled into Sonic and ordered Corn Dogs. With mustard. Delicious, and five year old me was ready to go see the elephants.

Alas, the current circus does not feature the right kind of elephants.

Dinner was Fettucini Alfredo with beautiful pink jumbo shrimp from the Gulf Of The Americas.

Starting a spreadsheet of "Trump's Obviously Impeachable Offenses." Congress holds the purse strings, and the executive branch is supposed to faithfully execute the law.

I'll start with:

- Blatantly illegal Inspectors General dismissals
- Funding freeze of allocated grants and loans

You can use this site to find out about allocated government spending in your area that Trump is (illegally) freezing.

Congress has the power of the purse. The executive branch is there to faithfully execute the law.

I'm an early riser, and listen as often as not to the morning farm report with my coffee. It's comfort radio in company of long gone ancestors.

Normally the Ag crowd is pretty reliably republican. That seems to be changing w/ Trump 2.0; immigration and tariff insanity is already here/now for them.

I was never on The Tweeter, but I was in Zucker-Burg, and I think that this 300 character limit is great. Too many people just go on, and expatiate upon irrelevancies and never seem to get to the point of what they want to express, never realizing that their verbiage is rambling on and taking unnece

It's being an interesting few days, to coin a phrase. I have been walking backward through time over on FB, deleting content. I have a copy offline.

I've noted how FB has changed. There used to be a lot more original content. Now I see re-posts. The former is better. An echo chamber is time wasted.

I never was on twitter, so I don't see anything missing here. I'm still cluing in, but I think that this'll be a fine replacement for billionaire-owned cesspools.

Of course, those cesspools still exist. And, as good people migrate out, the malevolence will concentrate.

Ultimately, that's useful.
