As part of the liberal Unitarian Universalist denomination, we’re a diverse, progressive and caring congregation. Find us at www.churchoftheriver.org.
Today we are sending love and light to our Jewish friends, as they both celebrate the first night of Hanukkah...and grieve for victims of the attack at a Hanukkah celebration in Australia.

Join us this Sunday Dec. 5  at 11am, as the second week of Advent brings us to the subject of peace. We will consider the idea of shalom,  translated to "peace," but with layers of meaning far beyond its English equivalent.

Happy Thanksgiving!
November 27, 2025 at 8:37 PM
As we prepare for Thanksgiving, our Question of the Week is...what are you most thankful for this year?
November 26, 2025 at 4:02 PM
If you're out Christmas shopping this week, pick up some extra gifts for children and teens and leave them in the Boys & Girls Clubs Toy Drive collection box in our sanctuary. This year, they especially need gifts for teens and preteens, but gifts for younger kids (starting at age 10) are welcome.

Thanks to everyone who contributed to making our annual Stone Soup lunch a success!
November 24, 2025 at 4:16 PM
It can be difficult to be thankful and have gratitude and to see community when so many things seem so far apart. Sun. 11/23 at 11am we'll explore how the different connects us and how even the most acquired tastes can bring something truly special to the great stone soup we call community.
November 21, 2025 at 4:02 PM
As we get ready for Stone Soup this Sunday, we want to know:  what's YOUR favorite soup? (Besides Stone Soup, of course!)
November 20, 2025 at 4:02 PM
Thanks to everyone who came out to the Sunset Cookout last Saturday!! It was the first time we got to enjoy our new deck in the evening, as we watched the sun set and the bridges light up. Everyone enjoyed the fellowship and food, and we even did some stargazing. Can't wait for the next cookout!
November 19, 2025 at 4:31 PM
You're invited to stay after the service this Sunday Nov. 23 for our annual Stone Soup lunch. Members practice being in community by contributing ingredients for the soup, along with salad and bread. Don't miss it!

If you use the I-55 bridge to get to church, be aware that it's closed for repair. If coming from AR, use the I-40 bridge instead. If coming from TN, you can take the Riverside/Crump exit, but Riverside is closed...from the roundabout, take Crump to Florida Ave. to E. Carolina to get to Ch.3 Drive.
November 16, 2025 at 2:33 PM
Come feast on grilled hot dogs and brats (vegan option also), chili, slaw, chips, salsa, beverages, desserts, s'mores, and more this evening (Sat.) from 4pm to 7pm, while enjoying sunset and bridge lights on the river.  Bring a camp chair or lawn chair, and don't miss this fantastic evening!

We often hear forgiveness mentioned alongside lofty religious language like grace, or mercy: nice, but not much use in daily life. Instead, let's consider "Forgiveness" as a practical matter....and the subject of our sermon Sunday November 16 at 11:00am.
