100%. The Times’ political reporting is generally terrible.
Utterly ludicrous framing from @nytimes.com here, treating Pete Hegseth's arguments as if they're legitimate. The casual reader will be left with no inkling whatsoever of how unusual and corrupt an abuse of the process this truly is:

Great example of a creative resistance technique.
Just suggested this to the many people in Oakland I know opposing Home Depot and ICE.
In Monrovia, California, protesters are purchasing 17¢ ICE scrapers from Home Depot and immediately returning them to create long lines and slow down the entire store. Their aim is to disrupt sales and convey a message opposing ICE raids occurring in their neighborhood.

The blame goes entirely to Trump and the Republicans, who are harming millions of innocent people, many of them their own voters and supporters.
Premiums sold through the Affordable Care Act are soaring because of the expiration of enhanced subsidies at the heart of the government shutdown.

We spoke to people who learned their monthly premiums will spike next year.

Here are their stories:
ACA health care premiums are rising. These 8 Americans showed us how much.

So strange that academic freedom is only important to Republicans, or supposedly so, when it involves lefty professors in the Ivy League. But it's fine to be a right-wing blowhard at Texas A&M. Or a racist cop, apparently.
If you're a professor at Texas A&M, you'll need to receive written authorization from the university president before discussing this incident on campus.

Spotify is running ads to recruit ICE agents.

It's very simple, really. What Trump and the GOP are doing, using starvation as a weapon against 42 million Americans and the Democratic Party, is the equivalent of a war crime.
A reminder that less than two months ago, the Trump administration abruptly ended the federal government's 27-year practice of collecting data on hunger and food insecurity.

Good corporate citizens shouldn't be running recruitment ads for ICE, aka Trump's secret police. This seems like a pretty low bar to me, but Spotify can't be bothered to care, apparently.

And Trump apparently has backed down. He’s weaker than people think, and the Americans who support democracy are stronger.
About 200 people stood in an intersection outside the Coast Guard base in Alameda, California, where federal agents were said to be arriving to prepare for an ICE operation. Protesters held signs that said “No ICE or Troops in the Bay” and “No Hate No Fear, Immigrants are Welcome Here.”

A great essay on why the NO KINGS' protests are working. Working to win more support to defend democracy and build a better one, working to undermine Trump's rule, and yeah, to get under his skin and undermine his credibility as a bully boy.
