Look. I am trying to keep my head up, keep my joy, keep fighting for my country and my people and people who aren't mine too. But I'll admit I thought it would take them longer before they suggested specifically shipping me off to a camp ("wellness farm") to do unpaid labor.

Up at 3:30 today, because grief, fear, and rage wouldn't let me sleep. At that hour, they weren't a scream inside. Instead, more of a tickle. but that tickle meant sleep was done. I eventually ended up at my wheel, and finished filling a bobbin with woolen spun Rambouillet yarn. (continued)

Today's act of resistance: meeting with a writing coach who works with autistic writers (I've self-identified) about working with her to get my fiber arts memoir about wool, mothering, and mental health written and published. In a time of silencing, I will write my heart out for others to read.

Today's creative act of resistance: drafting a 1-minute statement for the school board meeting. Religious extremists from out of state are going to be there demanding the board ban access to any LGBTQIA+ content in schools. I'm arguing access to such content should be a core value of the district.

Honestly, I don't really trust folks who aren't scared right now. I'm scared. I was up in the wee hours this morning, and the thing that calmed me down enough to get a bit more sleep was spending 90 minutes winding my nutiden unspun yarn held double into these nice little balls.
