I'm a cusp-of-Gen-Y Gemini.
Dad. Husband. Nilsson fanatic.
Cookie-eater. Award-winning poet.
There's gotta be a mathematical formula for my particular procrastinations.

Record an album. Release it 6 years later. Or don't.

Release a single. Drop the lyric-video 2 years later. Or shelve it.

Here's one "fresh" off that shelf.

Some days you feel patriotic.
Some days patriotic feels you.

Miles Davis made 50+ albums, revolutionized a genre 3 times, launched the careers of many jazz giants,...

...and has 2.8million monthly listeners.

That guy in the SUMMER VIBES shirt & mustache who just put out his 1st canned-loop dance-jam probably has 3million.

Numbers are numbers. Art is art.

What America needs right now more than anything is for everyone to drop everything and just listen to the piano in Ellington & Coltrane's "In a Sentimental Mood."

It's almost literally impossible to hate anyone while that piano is playing. Try it. Your country needs you to. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Remember when everyone was all like, oh gawd, bitcoin uses energy to secure a decentralized financial network that’s never been compromised in over 15 years? For shame! How dare it!

Introducing Fredo Baggins!

Half #Corleone, half #hobbit. Weakest of the family… bearer of the ring. (And we all know he wears it too).

Now I need your help:

Give me your best fake Fredo quote from The Don of the Rings: "__________"

Jeffrey Goldberg gets accidentally added to a group chat and the story of the year lands in his lap.

Paul McCartney goes to sleep and dreams "Yesterday," the most covered song in history.

I'm waiting, Lord.

Don't care how big a music theory genius you are. If you think "Teenage Dream" ever hits the root chord, you're wrong.

It never hits a minor chord either. Never implies a fancy double extension whats-a-ma-who-lit.

It's just IV(maj7). Then V. Then IV. Then V. Then IV. And V. And then IV. And V...

Aging is weird.

I remember a show in 2017 when I sang Taylor Swift's SHAKE IT OFF and these college kids yelled "Oh, yay. A classic."

And I was like, "'Fly Me to the Moon' is a classic. This song came out 3 years ago."

Now those kids are nearly 30 and that song is still "new-ish" to me.

Heard an ad for a Black Crowes concert this AM. Someone said: "We're the last real rock band to not use in-ear monitors. We still use amps that push air."

And I wondered: Do audiences actually care about that?
Or is it inside-baseball for nostalgists?
Big overlap in their case?

Honest question.

What’s the title of their WORST song?

(Sometimes I like to make bad album covers for fake bands, and you’re welcome)

What do YOU think is most missing in modern music? Drop your hot take in the comments!

Here's my theory: Mouth-trumpet 🎺

Yes, mouth-trumpet. Or... trombone?

Such as in Harry Nilsson' iconic vocal break from "Everybody’s Talkin’"...

🎸Count the awkward faces! 😂  This is what happens when I get lost in a solo… awkward face city. Watch the counter go up as I take a lead over "Everybody’s Talkin’."

What guitarist do you think makes the weirdest faces? Drop a comment and lemme know.

Every concert of macabre folk-pop originals needs a good cover song. Here's one we practiced the other night, and we promise to know all the words in time for the show. 😉

All this obsessive talk among the major labels about "superfans" over the past couple years like it's some hot new thing.

Turns out what they mean is "people who go to shows, buy stuff, check in with their favorite artists once in a while."

Oh, so, like, fans?

Thx to whoever made this list and put "1+1+1=3" on it.

I'm pretty confident my maths in the title checks out.
