Cautiously Optimistic AI Sceptic | Creating the setting for our best work
Need to get some fresh air... I've tuned the collaboration with my AI so we'll that I just tried to add an emoji to it's response like I was chatting with it in slack...

Cozy procrastination = chatting with AI instead of doing the work.
Feels productive. Isn’t. #AIProductivity #HumanAI

Two things I do at the start of the week, that AI can help with:

1. Weekly “preview” that writes the narrative of the next 7 days that I can follow with purpose.

2. Compare that weekly plan with a longer seasonal arc to make sure what I am prioritising is moving me towards my ambitions.

Purposefully being off routine can reveal which parts you'll really commit to.

Life's disruptions break our carefully crafted habits. But - we discover which routines we genuinely miss, not just the ones we think we should do. Nature's way of showing us our authentic path forward.

Facing several setbacks; might mean a new direction is needed

When the body protests, tech hits limits, and daily rhythms stumble, it's not just bad luck—it's data. Little signs to nudge us toward reviewing our path. Time to consider a different route to the same destination.

Create barriers between anxiety at work and those at home

It's easy to let work uncertainty seep into family time. But washing up shouldn't be weighted by workplace worry, or bedtime stories interrupted by tomorrow's to-dos. Perhaps its time to implement an end-of-day routine?

Have experts in your life

Reconnecting with a trusted physio after years - her expertise cutting through confusion, saving time and missteps. The best relationships aren't just about taking wisdom, but exchanging it. Experience flows both ways, even across different fields.

Find win-wins

Split the day between personal needs and family time—swimming with kids while partner enjoyed alone time getting her hair done. Later reunited for a family bike ride that brought everyone together refreshed. The day felt balanced because everyone got what they needed.

Don't assume your leaders have all the information

Unshared insights sit heavier than the risk of speaking up. Staying silent and hoping for change might be easier - but the map to progress might be missing the very piece I'm holding. The uncomfortable conversation is worth having.

There's a unique energy to tap into in the office

Bouncing between coffee chats and presentations, skipping from task to task—the buzz becomes fuel. Something about that workplace hum creates a momentum that carries you through, spinning multiple plates and still making progress.

Appreciate your own progress equally with others too.

Work got shipped, cleared the to-do list - yet the real wins were closer to home. I'm grateful to Rosie for getting the house ready for sale with 2 toddlers in it. That's real success, deserving equal recognition!

Walking uphill climbs mountains

Today I started with an AI assist to build training data scripts, discovered Hugging Face fine-tuning, and mapped out model merging steps. Tech progression isn't always elegant, but each solved problem is a step closer to a working solution.

Frustration when tackling a problem is the first peak of growth to summit

Deep diving into LLM fine-tuning - That familiar tech frustration signals you're at the exciting edge of learning, where the path isn't yet paved. The struggle isn't the block, it's the first step up.

A fulfilled morning - a cup of tea with friends

22 miles in the saddle for a simple cuppa with friends, just tea and time. Some conversations are worth the journey - 3 hours in the elements for 60 mins on the sofa - the exchange rate of friendship always pays dividends.

Different perspectives can validate your point of view

Sometimes you need to look at the alternatives to appreciate your first instinct. Seeing what doesn't quite work elsewhere helps spotlight what really matters in the original choice. Comparison brings clarity.

Bittersweet to celebrate a milestone but say goodbye at the same time

Project milestones mark progress, but can be chapters closing. Celebrations to honour both the achievement and the heroes who got us here - the impact of great teamwork remains in the legacy they leave behind.

Trust in those around you to guide you through challenge and change

Sometimes the wisest move is letting others lead—when their expertise speaks louder than our comfort zone. The collective wisdom of trusted allies often lights the clearest path forward.

The hard part of change is leaving the familiar

Standing in a promising new space, while your current home holds your heart. It's that moment when potential collides with comfort—imagining 'what could be' recognises the growth and discomfort that may lie in the journey to get there

Early milestones remind how far they've come and how much is ahead.

Harry's 2nd birthday - in his smart shirt, practicing 'thank yous' to his grandparents, while still breaking into toddler giggles and squeals at play with his presents.

Committing to that stretch target has double the reward when achieved

Sizing up the weights at home wasn't just about the extra kilos—it was backing yourself to grow. Now those dumbbells aren't just heavier, they're proof that comfort zones are meant to be nudged. Extra effort, extra payoff.

Unfortunate events reveal a more fortunate situation

Two car mishaps in one day seemed like rotten luck. But sometimes disruption reshuffles the deck in your favour -an opportunity to re-plan car maintenance options, hopefully for a better cost! Universe's chaotic admin assistance.

Time available on Monday's decompresses the weekend, so you can slow down and enjoy it.

When you know there's breathing space ahead, Saturday morning playtimes don't compete with mental to-do lists. Smart planning creates pockets of pure presence—where weekend joy isn't rushed by Monday's shadow.

Even on a good day, maintain discipline to maintain advantage.

Strong week's close and afternoon's balance felt like victory earned. But success can soften edges and open us up to unforced errors - a reminder that our biggest challenges might be ourselves!

Pride for those around you can be the result of the investment you made in the past.

Watching the team shine today - with confidence and leadership. A journey of growth I'm proud to have been part of. What investment are you making today?
