The Emperor’s New Tax Writeoff
Melania’s first screening in Times Square draws four people, at least three of them professional critics. www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie...

To hell with this I guess,
Let the rock roll.

The Melania bribe movie faceplanting is just a tax write off for Amazon, no? Everyone writing schadenfreude articles about how many millions were lost when everyone got their bag, and Ratner was never going to find legitimate work again. 🙄

The “human” we compare to AI, though, mistakes the dichotomy. It’s not that AI isn’t human — it is an automation of capitalism, a human imaginary. The opposite of Artificial Intelligence isn’t the human mind, the opposite of AI is a community.

Wow, someone was allowed to mention the Network State in the New York Times opinion section. I believe this is a first.

All historical evils are alike; each historical evil is evil in its own way.
I don't think there's a lot of margin in trying to prove a one-to-one correlation in order to say something is evil. All historical evils evoke each other; all historical evils are also unique.

Does anyone else report and block the amazon bots in the fountain pen feed? It’s like a meditative practice for me.

Oh so this year is finally the Saturnian return of analog? I guess I should let the youth feel excited about discovering things I love. *sighs in cursive*

Stores like Paper & Pencil — packed with stickers, fountain pens and planners — have seen sales surge. Chicago shop owners credit social media and influencers who have marked this year as a return to analog.

Humans have always attributed meaning to meaningless phenomena. LLMs are no different. Conmen selling tickets to their magic 8-ball. Brilliant idea if you can convince the rubes. #ai

this is a delightful thread for everybody interested in Christmas as a cultural narrative
I am not a Christian of course but like all Americans I have spent my life marinating in Christian mythography, and so around this time of year I have a lot of thoughts about the Nativity and the part where the innkeeper says there's no room in the inn.

Diamine saved some of the best for last. Inkvent Day 23 “Let it Snow” sprinkles us in mid-century nostalgia. These snowflakes are perfectly ripe, don’t wait until February.
