Here's a new version of my Essay on the Ten Commandments in public schools, now with more constructive solutions (and all the same criticisms). Wise friends kept suggesting that I propose solutions too, and they were right! Happy to take feedback. papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers....

The palantir in LOTR once could be used to see across time and space, but Sauron corrupted them so that they only show the dark tower. The original doom scrolling?! “Perilous to us all are the devices of an art deeper than we possess ourselves.” (TTT, 1954)

🪶New draft from me, bringing my Jubilee work to bear on the question of the Ten Commandments in public schools. I'm concerned about promoting law without narrative ... morality without Exodus or Jubilee. Forthcoming in W&L Online. Comments welcome! papers.ssrn.com/abstract=543...

I formatted my CV so that all hotlinks are in Lincoln Green, my favorite color. And my son says, “Because Link in Green, right?” and boy oh boy has the student become the master.

Fascinating study here.
I studied the entire 10-year sermon archive of one of America's fastest-growing megachurches to see how a congregation hears about economic inequality. Every passage preached on that appeared to question inequality, criticize the rich, or venerate the poor was interpreted against the plain reading.

Key analysis by Cato. Trump set a goal of 3000 arrests/day and told ICE to seize people wherever (courthouses, schools, churches). So ICE can't focus on violent offenders and is picking up peaceful immigrants to meet its quota. [1/2] www.cato.org/blog/65-peop...
