In brief, if we screen younger men, require secondary tests before biopsy (MRI or marker), only treat men with aggressive disease (ie active surveillance for low risk), & regionalize treatment at hi-volume centers, PSA screening will do more good than harm.

My first and definitely last time working with the Los Angeles Times. Editing out the most urgent point of an OpEd in the minutes before sending to press while then also assigning a title and image that suggest an argument entirely opposite to the author’s clear intent is pretty shitty.

De-escalation (of numbers of drugs as well as dosages) is shaping up to be a major theme in #oncology, beginning with @sabcs.bsky.social coming up next month. Colleagues in #breastcancer leading the way, maybe more to come for GI cancers at #GI25, and even more at #ASCO25?
