What is 'National Shutdown Day' on Jan. 30 — and do you plan to participate?
Anti-ICE activists are calling for a nationwide “shutdown” on Jan. 30, urging “no work, no school, no shopping." Are you participating?

#WritingTip: Write about what you want desperately to understand.

I wrote what I knew, but it bored me.

When I write about what I don’t know, what I don’t understand, and what I wish with the deepest part of myself could be … my writing gets better.

This was an incredibly imaginative story. Deeply felt, philosophical, and wildly original. Congratulations to Aubrey Hartman!

I am also a Candace Fleming fan. Just read Death in the Jungle. Another phenomenal Fleming title!
I love Candace Fleming's books. So exciting to see her recognized with the Margaret A. Edwards award!

I'd be hard-pressed to name someone who's done more for Native American literature for young readers than @cynleitichsmith.bsky.social, winner of this year's Printz Award. Such an amazing choice!! bookshop.org/p/books/lege...

I remember getting the call from the Newbery Committee at 4:15 AM.

I was used to dreaming big, but until that day I had little experience having my dreams come true.

To everyone whose dreams come true tomorrow: Congratulations! #ALAyma

"The dogs of Dogtown are as fancy as you'll find anywhere. Collies and corgis, shar-peis and sheepdogs, oodles of schnoodles, poodles, and labradoodles… plus plenty of mutts like me."

"My name is Hank Hooperman, but my little sister calls me Pooperman. We are Hooperman and Pooperman, according to Boo. I'd like it to be Hooperman and Superman, but try telling that to Boo."

Today is Al Capone's birthday, and I'm thinking about my #TalesFromAlcatraz series.

Did you know that the first book's title, AL CAPONE DOES MY SHIRTS, has historic resonance? Capone’s first job in the penitentiary was working in the laundry facility! 👕

My very first book was MOONSTRUCK, a picture book about an ambitious cow.

I can't believe it's almost 30 years old—I published it in 1997!

But I remember the thrill of seeing my first book in a bookstore window like it was yesterday. 🐄🌖
