I nerd about. Sometimes I do other stuff. I also make an app.

Remind Me Faster is 10 years old today. 🍰

Thank you so much to those who’ve reached out with kind words over the years. The feedback has motivated me to no end, and is partly why I’ve kept my focus on it.

There are many more updates still to come.

Remind Me Faster 6.1 is available now. This is a quiet release. There are no new features.

I’ve re-written the startup sequence (long overdue) which should reduce the occasional loading spinners. And there are various little areas of UI that have been polished.

Remind Me Faster is now available on macOS (Sequoia & Tahoe), with various layout optimisations for Mac and keyboard-first updates for key features.

It’s a catalyst app, and a big step up from running the iOS version on Mac. I’m also aiming to make it feel more Mac-native over time.

This’ll be the first iOS redesign that Remind Me Faster has been around for.

1.0 was released in late 2015, well into the iOS 7 era. RMF has evolved significantly since, but this has been the culmination of many small steps, not linked to broader iOS visuals.

Curious to see how this goes.

@pixeldetective.bsky.social Hey Khamosh👋. I make the iOS app Remind Me Faster, which you’ve previously written about on Lifehacker (thanks so much!). Are you interested in checking out a testflight for an iOS 26 update? No worries if not :)

I wonder to what extent the blue dot on updated apps inflates the monthly usage KPIs that many companies track.

I know I sometimes open an app briefly just to clear the dot.

I have routine reminders I often set. They’re not repeat reminders, but I’ll often set a bunch in quick succession.

The auto-complete in Remind Me Faster lets you add these really quickly, with no setup - it’ll search for reminders you create frequently and suggest them as you type.

Remind Me Faster 5.8 is available now, bringing Auto-Complete & Duplicate Detection.

This one’s for all those reminders we enter again and again.

So there’s a hidden trick in Remind Me Faster:

If you forget to add an alert, if you’re quick you can actually tap the ‘✔️ Added’ toast and it’ll take you to the reminder you just created, inside Apple Reminders. Should make it a little quicker to amend, when needed.

Small details in the next release — updated live activity designs, also optimised for watchOS ⌚️

Natural language input in RMF can be set to auto-select any date you type. No confirmation necessary. It can also distinguish between dates & time alerts automatically.

Did you know you can use smart playlists in Apple Music on iOS? You just need to create them on macOS first, then they’ll sync across.

For 10 years I’ve had a ‘Rediscover’ smart playlist, which is the 100 loved tracks I’ve least recently played. Regularly unearths gems. Would recommend.

Remind Me Faster tip:

Swipe left or right to quick-switch lists. Swipe down for a thumb-reachable list picker.

Remind Me Faster tip:

If you overshoot a date slightly, long press a +h button to subtract, instead of add.

This works with the new +5/10/15 min buttons too :)

The foundational premise of Remind Me Faster has always been that the *speed* of setting a reminder time is usually more important than the *accuracy* of the reminder time.

If it takes too long to enter, life will distract you. Or worse, you may not even bother trying.
June 5, 2025 at 5:16 PM
In 2021 I added location presets, which you can add to a reminder in 2 taps.

I still find the interaction pretty satisying. I like to imagine the icon is unwinding and retracting the list of locations, as if they’re tied to a string on a spool.
June 3, 2025 at 3:20 PM
I’m often distracted from setting a reminder.

Mid-entry someone’ll ask me something, or a stray notification pulls me in. Once I’ve switched task I’ll often forget all about the reminder (the irony 🙃).

Remind Me Faster 5.7 is out now, with new options for customising time controls:

• Increment buttons are customisable (+5m / 10m / 15m / 1h / 6h / 24h)
• 4 time presets, up from 3.
• 4 increment buttons, up from 3.
• Slightly updated design.
