The so-called “Big Beautiful Bill” would funnel more money into ICE than the entire US Marine Corps, while also allocating more to ICE detention centers than to every federal prison in the country combined. It’s a dystopian expansion of a police state, plain and simple.

Yes, Iran has a worse human rights record than the US. But you don’t justify violence against a population simply because their government mistreats them. By that logic, we’d have to accept bombing Alabama as fair game, and that’s obviously absurd.

Democrats should follow Mamdani’s lead: stop prioritizing corporatism, party hierarchy, and establishment politics. Focus on working people with a populist message. Be authentic, and don’t hesitate to push back hard, rhetorically and relentlessly, against both MAGA and the Democratic establishment.

Musk ended up backing down and quietly deleting all his inflammatory posts about Trump. On one hand, I was hopeful it might finally drive a wedge through the MAGA coalition, but on the other, I was bracing for the possibility that they’d patch things up and come back even more unhinged and united.
